I am not an expert on the design of these hubs, but here are my thoughts. 1.) This 10 port hub only has a 3 AMP @ 12v PSU, so could never support 10 x Port maximum power delivery. However, this seems to be normal for these 10 port hubs for some reason which I dont understand and I assume this is a cost saving reduction based on some statistic possibly. Reading the 3.1 spec, it should allow a theoretical 0.9AMP for any given port. But if you take into account the power taken by the electronics inside the unit itself that probably leaves no more than a power delivery per port of something like ~250MA per port assuming that all ports were on at the same time. Although its is unlikely all ports would draw the maximum allowable current at the same time, it seems to a bit more limiting than I would like. 2.) The lights which indicate the port is switched on, are on the opposite side to the buttons so if you want to see the visual feedback of the port being switched on, and the buttons are on your near side, then you would not be able to see that. 3.) The device does not have significant weight which means that the device will not stay still on the bench/desk while you are pulling out or inserting cables in, just irritating really. If I continue to use this I will need to put Velcro on the underside to stop it sliding about, if however you never move the cables in or out of the hub often then it problem likely wont matter to you. I may send this back because it is impractical to use due to the lights being on the other side to the buttons. On the plus side, so far it does appear to be working.

The bad -1 Star: I seem to have intermittent connectivity with my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse when the dongles are plugged into this. The usb receivers now live in my pc usb ports. -1 Star: The design of this thing is not the best. If you want to use this thing under your monitor on your desk, the way it is designed is to sit flat with cables sprouting from it, this looks like a right mess and cable management is just not possible. Also the pull on the cables will often not allow it to sit flat even thouggh it is made out of metal (which I think may be the reason why the usb wirelress receivers don't work very well in it). -0 Star: I would remove a star for this but you will get the problem with all the others also so I will be nice. The cable that is supplied is typically not long enough for most people, and it wasn't for me, as expected, which is why I ordered a cable while purchasing this thing. But for the price I was hoping for a decent cable. - It's expensive The good / ok - I quite like the power buttons (nice to turn external ssd and mic off) - Lots of ports - Feels well made - LEDs are nice, glaring blue though, luckily I have it on it's side facing out to not look like it's sprouting cables which covers up the LEDs

Good while it lasted. This is my second one of these. The first failed after about a year. This one failed after five months. I think a surge did both of them but not sure. I'll look for something different. UPDATE: This company is something special. I contacted them and they explained what I was doing wrong. Apparantly the power supply couldn't handle 10 external HDD's. They refunded BOTH my previous purchases and I have bought the 13 way which has a 6A power supply.

This powered USB 3 multi port hub worked for me. Some devices have more power requirements than others and this is usually taken form the PC's onboard power. This does work in many cases but there it sometimes is necessary to have a USB hub that can help by providing its own power. When you want to have many ports this powered method is a good way to do this. At the time of writing I have had this for a few weeks and it works as expected for me.

Unfortunately died after a year of use, 10 days out of warranty :-) Worked fine all year then 4 days ago all the attached drives dropped off the computer. A few checks and this USB hub was dumping connections quicker than I could re connect them. So consider your purchase a 1 year rental.
