Would be lint free and good for use with cast iron skillet?

They are better than an average towel but not considered Lint Free. They will break down if they get too wet just like any other towel but these are much better for wiping thick grease and will hold up better than a standard towel for that purpose. They also hold up better if you need to rub harder to clean a tough surface stain or rust off of metal.
