READ!! - You May have a Defective Unit - READ!!
tl;dr We definitely need to get the word out to people who are buying new Pros to use ROTTR (Rise of the Tomb Raider) as a benchmark to test if you got a bad Pro or not. I don't want to repeat what others have said about the system. It's awesome. If you are reading this, you probably already know if you want one or not. With "Boost Mode" (Firmware 4.5) incoming, it's almost a no-brainer for an avid gamer. What I do want to share is my experience to save as many headaches as possible. I originally purchased a used PS4 Pro on Warehouse Deals and saved myself $60. Yay! Until I started playing. I soon discovered why it was used - It would crash all the time on Pro-patched games. So, back it went. I still wanted one and decided to buy new this time to avoid anymore hassle. I didn't want to risk losing my 1-year warranty either, which I would soon need. Long story short, my next brand spanking new PS4 Pro started crashing as well. I was convinced it was software related and Sony just working the bugs out. Nope! After doing a lot of research, all the games that were crashing on me (Diablo 3 and ROTTR were the biggest culprits) were being played without hitch by most PS4 Pro owners. I was outside my return window so I had no choice but to send mine to Sony for repair. This was a hard decision as most games still ran just fine (including most PS4 Pro patched games - Skyrim SE, FFXV, AC Syndicate, Shadow of Mordor, Uncharted 4, etc), and I didn't want to replaced a perfectly working system with a refurbished one, but what choice was left? So many others were playing these games without crashing. Well, I got my warranty repair back. Credit to Sony, they sent me a brand new one! Couldn't be happier about that, but the important thing - No more crashing on ROTTR, Diablo 3, or anything else! The fan sounded much quieter and less erratic as well. Without a doubt, the crashing was definitely hardware related as many people had suggested in forums. It happens, I understand. What is surprising to me is how many people this is happening to in the forums. I think most people are okay, but I wonder how many people have defective Pros and haven't realized it yet. If I had to guess (and this is just pure speculation on my part) I would say the problem stems from a very large batch of bad PS4 Pro GPU's. Half of the GPU is always being used. The other half is completely dedicated to Pro-enhanced/patched games only to be used in tandem with the other half (which some games might not fully make use of). This explains why you can play plenty of 4k games without crashing. Whatever the problem, it's definitely hardware related - A patch isn't going to fix it. I know no one wants to hear that their brand new console is defective, but if you are experiencing the same, it's true. Early adopter problems I guess. The good news is you can test to see if yours is defective. Very simply, if you have Rise of the Tomb Raider, play it the second you get your Pro. If you experience crashes, congratulations you won the lottery (you should experience crashes within 15 minutes if it is). Take it back immediately and replace it. If you are outside of your return period, you can still warranty replace it with Sony. If you have to use Sony's warranty repair, I will add they are excellent! It was very hassle free, and they straight-up sent me a new one. For reference, below is my timeline for Playstation repair: 1/25/17: Requested Warranty Repair 1/30/17: Received Return Box and shipped 2/2/17: Delivered to Sony Repair in Laredo TX 2/8/17: Received an email stating my product was shipped 2/14/17: Received brand new PS4 Pro After this experience, I'm definitely buying the PS4 Pro insurance if it becomes available (be aware the regular Playstation Protection Plan currently doesn't cover the Pro). Good luck, I hope this helps!!

Great system. Noticable improvements. Best with a 4k tv
So obviously the better your tv is, the better your experience with this new PlayStation will be. Anyway here we go. Controller is just about the same but looks slightly newer. Like comparing a 2018 car to a 2019 of the same exact model. Yeah it gonna look a little better but nothing drastically different. Second we got a one terabyte hard drive with not two, but three ubs ports. That means I can charge two controllers and have an external hard drive connected at the same time. Very cool. Has an optical on the back of the unit for a sound system. (I really can't say how it's going to make a world of difference if it's going directly from your tv or from the PlayStation.) Moving on let's talk about performance. Some say that it really doesn't make much difference graphically and I have to say: they are absolutely wrong. If it's not something that wows you in the first place then it won't be something that you notice right away. Just like anything else in life. Some games take far better advantage of the advancements than others. When I say graphics I'm talking about frame rate, image fidelity and colors. And I see instant improvements on all of these. I have a cheap 4k tv (Sceptre 400 bucks 2018) And I can say MOST of my games show color improvement even though I don't have HDR. And the newer titles are designed to take advantage of this new technology some even without having to change graphics settings. Take Lego Ninjago for instance. It's looks sharper with more vibrant colors and here is the biggest thing for me: the frame rate has been improved. That's a big deal for me because I didn't think the devs did a great job with the the frame rate on the first ps4 considering how quick the fighting is but without changing anything the combat is noticably smoother. Thanks Sony. In some newer games like God of war and shadow of the tomb raider there will be a graphics setting to switch between better graphics or better frame rate. Honestly with my cheap tv switching it from frame rate to graphics doesn't seem to make that much difference so I just keep it on better frame rate. however, I do instantly see improvement in resolution in both of these games compared to the way they looks on the original ps4. And yes even with it set to better frame rate we get a healthy boost to the colors and resolution here. Note: For really old games turn on boost mode to make them quit better. Go to [Settings] > [System] and select [Boost Mode]. Press X to turn boost mode On or Off. There are SOME newer games that don't seem much different at all and that's the developer of the games fault. The new Modern warfare is barely different looking. Sound quality has been improved because of a better sound signal. Even though mid range headphones it sounded noticable clearer with almost no distortion even though my earphones had distortion on most games before qAll in all I'm giving this a solid 5 stars cause I see improvements in MOST games. You should see frame rate improvement even on a regular 720 or 1018p tv However, your gonna want to pick up a 4k tv (even a cheap one like mine) to take full advantage of this beautiful new system.

First off I would just like to say I have been gaming for years now ...
First off I would just like to say I have been gaming for years now and I have been reading some of the poor reviews on here about same graphical improvements over the original PS4 and I would have to disagree I just received my PS4 Pro today and been quite entrigued over the amazing quality of the graphical and performance increase fidelity that this console achieves! I own a Sumsung HDR 4K 55inch 8000 series Led UHD TV I made sure HDR is enabled along with Game mode and than made sure on the PS4 Pro video was set to auto on all settings and this is where the magic started for me I tried playing a few game titles to start off Destiny in 4K is just freaking mind blowing and the game movement is a lot smoother than ever it's like playing a brand new game. Next I tried out The Last Of Us Remastered Wow! Blown away again in graphical and smoothness of the game in 4K with HDR enabled. So far even the indie games and older titles look and play way better. I have noticed how much better fps games look and play much smoother also. Ok and now off to the games that have been patched for taking complete advantage of the PS4 pro.I have only tried one so far Rise Of The Tombraider in 4K with HDR enabled my mouth just dropped with pure joy and excitement wow! what a even more beautiful game this is now than ever before. I can't wait to try out BF1 and other titles I own. I also noticed the loading times for games have almost been cut in half which I am pleased too see. Also the wifi speeds are much faster I download games and patches much faster now. So my final thought on the PS4 Pro is if you don't own a 4K tv with HDR is it worth the upgrade well yes you will still see some improvement in all games and stability but where this console really shines is by owning a decent brand 4K hdr uhd tv I recommend the Samsung 8000 series or Sony high end line of 4K hdr tvs for gaming. Thanks Sony once again for releasing this wonderful powerhouse of a console.😀😀😀😀 Newest update: Nov 16th 2016 PS4 Pro is still working flawlessly I did return my Samsung 8000 series and got a little cheaper model I decided to go with the Samsung 55 4K hdr 6 series 6300 model and let me tell you it's way better than the 8000 series when it comes to playing games very very low input lag on all settings even without game mode enabled there is no lag and the tv cost half the price as the 8000 series only downfall is there are only 3 hdmi inputs and only input 1 port that has HDR enabled all I had to do was buy a 4K switch box from Best Buy and now all my devices are connected to hdmi 1 and just use the switch box to change each input so now I can play PS4 pro and Xbox one s in 4K with hdr enabled also the PS4 pro is very quiet and doesn't get very hot to the touch also I did have the chance to play BF1 with all settings 4K with hdr and I'm just speechless the graphics and smoothness are on par with any higher end gaming pc Sony did it once again!

Defective Disc Drive *Updated*
*Update* Received my new PS4 Pro from Amazon, and everything went smoothly this time around. No issues with the optical drive reading discs. Took a good part of the day to get all of the games installed and patched, but everything went without a hitch. A couple of impressions of games moving from the original PS4 to the PS4 Pro: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor - This game offers 2 different graphical options, allowing you to choose from 4K resolution, or 1080p resolution with improved game performance(FPS, lighting, etc). I played in 4K mode, and it was a very noticeable increase in graphical quality from the original PS4. I haven't tried the other mode, and I doubt I will. It still runs smoothly, and looks great in 4K. The Last of Us Remastered - This one also offers a choice between 4K with a variable frame rate, and 1080p with a frame rate locked at 60 FPS. I also played this one in 4K mode, and it looked great. I was able to read signs and the names of books that were blurred out on the old hardware. I did, however, notice some minor drops in the frame rate, but nothing I'd consider game breaking. Titanfall 2 - This game is supposed to offer greater frame rates and enhanced graphics on the PS4 Pro. In my opinion, it looked good, but not spectacular. It did run very smoothly though. If you're looking for a game to show off the power of the PS4 Pro, I wouldn't say this is it, but it is a very fun game so far, both single player and multiplayer. NBA 2K17 - This was already a great looking game on the PS4, but running in native 4K with HDR, it looks pretty amazing on the PS4 Pro. If you're even remotely a NBA fan, this is a great game, both in terms of fun gameplay, and a showcase of the PS4 Pro's capabilities. I still have yet to dive into Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare Remastered, and Uncharted 4, which all have various enhancements specific to the PS4 Pro. As of now, I'd recommend the Pro if you have a PS4 base model and a 4K TV, or if you're not currently a PS4 owner. If you already have a PS4 but no 4K TV, I'd say wait until you move up to the 4K TV to really get the maximum benefit out of the system. I'm docking 1 star from my review for the lack of UHD Blu Ray player in the console. I have a Xbox One S to play UHD's, but for those who don't, this seems like a puzzling(CHEAP) design choice by Sony. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, and as always, thrilled with Amazon's no questions asked return policy on defective items. Original Review Below: Received my system, got it connected online, retrieved my PSN profile, etc, and popped in CoD Infinite Warfare hoping to see a beautiful game on my 4k display. It sounded like the disc was in a meat grinder before I got an "unrecognized disc" error. Tried 4 more new games that have never been taken out if their cases, and 3 Blu ray movies with the same result. Very disappointing to have failed hardware right out of the box. I've initiated a replacement order with Amazon, and I'll update my review if/when I get a working console.

KING OF EXCLUSIVES!!!
The PS4 PRO is the latest release console from SONY. Although, it is not nearly as powerful as Microsoft's latest (Xbox One X) console it stands out and has more exclusive when it comes to games. Now you may be asking, why choose this over the switch, Xbox One X or even a PC gaming system? Here are 12 reasons why: 1) Exclusive Games.Yes, I know Steam has more exclusives than any console out there but one thing their lack is simplicity. Sometimes you will find yourself spending more money on upgrades to be able to play a game in addition to already spending $60 or more. Whereas, you would just put the disk in and download any available update then play your game on consoles. This can be frustrating as you may be unaware of the requirements listed for the game and only to realize later you can't play your game because you do not have the latest version of ( insert here) when the game comes out. When it comes to the switch? Most of their games are exclusive because of the lack of third party supports. These exclusives are nothing special. Mostly Mario or another Zelda game. I mean if you really want to play mobile games then just use your smart phone, right? Do not expect to play AAA games on the switch as it will not probably happen. So, you can forget about Call of Duty or a Battlefield game. If any a AAA game does come out for the switch, no doubt the screen resolution would be horrible mediocre at best. The Xbox One X lacks exclusives. If you want to play Games like God of war 4, Days gone, Rachet and Clank or Blood borne then you can only play these on the PlayStation 4. 2) Excellent Workmanship. More people owns more PS4s than any other consoles in the world. Ever wonder why? It is no secret that Sony makes reliable products. I have a 160GB PS3 model CECH-2501A I bought since release and you know? It still works even today. This PS3 has taken a lot of beating from fall damage to power outage and overheating, excessive dust in the vents, you name it and guess what? IT STILL WORKS. I never had to send it in for repair too. I know you might be thinking, " this is irrelevant to the PS4 PRO". My point is SONY is a reliable company that you can trust. My PS4 had suffer some water damage and I thought I would have to send it in for repair. Nope, as I am writing this it still works. Can its competitors boast of the same reliability? Remember, the red light of death? How almost 45 percent of the units had to be return for repairs. I guess that was in the past, now right? LOL! 3) Price! Even though is it not the cheapest nor most expensive well at least you get what you pay for. I mean why would you pay less for less? OR you could pay a little extra for some extra power. In the end, the decision will be in the palms of the game developers, they will decide if they want their games to run at 4K @ 60, 30 frame or 1080p @ 60 or 30 frames. My point is if game developers wants to, they can make the PS4 PRO run games at 4K native or upscale with HDR. Example, Hustle Kings runs at native 4k with HDR enable while Helldivers is upscale to 4K. The developers decide. 4) More Popular. More players mean more people online, which also indicate less waiting time to play your favorite PVP game. Including less dead game lobbies too. I mean no one wants to spend 30 minutes trying to find a match that will last 10 minutes or, so right? That is annoying! 5) Continual updates. I am not saying that its competitors do not update their systems, no but rather SONY constantly does to ensure the smooth operation of their system software and to protect its user base from hackers. SONY has recently release update 5.50 which include super-sampling. You might already be familiar with this if you own a PC gaming system. However, if you do not own a 4K TV yet then this will certainty help you. A lot. It will clear out blur and sharping the image quality in some games so that your picture quality is enhance thus making 1080p looks even better. It is pretty cool. 6) Does Not Force You To buy Gimmick To Operate. Even though it was remove and it is no longer required to operate their system but just pulling at stunt like that is scary. Remember the all-seeing eye? 7) HDD Upgrade. Yes, you can upgrade your HDD size from 1tb to 2tb. Unlike its competitor, you can actually upgrade your HDD without voiding your warranty. Even Nintendo has that. You do not have to tear open your console and in which you could potentially damage something in the process simply to change a HDD. From start to finish the whole process will take about 25 minutes (including the firmware update) to swap your HDD and the most amazing thing is? YOUR WARRANTY IS NOT VOIDED!!!! Games are getting larger and larger as developers can advantages of the PRO's capabilities. Before you know it, you are out of space. Battlefield 1 and Middle-earth: Shadow of War take almost 200gb from my system that is just two games. I recommend upgrading to a bigger size HDD. If you are planning on upgrading your PS4 PRO's HDD then make sure it is a 2.5 inch (laptop HDD, NOT 3.5-inch desktop HDD), 9.5mm (or slimmer) in size and Serial ATA (Parallel ATA is not supported). You can only upgrade up to 2tb internally as 3tb and up would exceeded the 9.5mm limit for the HDD size. 8) Friendly User Interface. It is surprisingly easy to navigate around. The user interface is not overly complicated where you constantly get lost or confuse. Nope. When I first had my PS4, it takes literally less than 30 minutes to learn about all the features and navigate throughout. Update 5.50 added some new features to the PS4 but nothing to complicated that will leave you in the dark. My motto for the PS4 is 'Simple, Powerful, Reliable". 9) PSN Plus. PSN Plus is required to play online games. However, there are a few instances where you do not. Games like Guns Up. PSN Plus is not expensive. $60 for a year. Of course, there is also the 3 months for $24.99 or the 1 month $9.99. The 1-year membership is the best option. If choose the 3 months membership, in 1-year time you will spending $100. If you choose the 1-month membership in 1-year time you will be spending $120. The 1-year option is about a 40 percent save. The choice is yours. There is also a free trial for 14 days. Anyway, you occasionally get discounts and multiple "free" games monthly if you are a PSN Plus member. Some of the games are even AAA titles. March 2018 monthly games includes two awesome games; Bloodborne & Rachet and clank. There is a bonus feature, 10gb of cloud storage to back up your save game data. 10) Support External Storage Device. If you have an old HDD or USB drive you do not have use for then you can connect it to your PS4 and format it as an external HDD to store your extra games. 11) Suspend Mode. Ever been playing a game when you look at the time, realizing you are late for work or an important meeting? Let’s say your next save is very far away and you cannot afford to lose your game progression. No problem, just put the game on suspense mode then turn off the TV. Not only will it save your game data to the cloud (if you have that enable) but you will also be able to resume your game play when you turn your PS4 on. It is just like sleep mode for PC. 12) Requests To Watch. Ever wonder why your friend in on top of the leader board and you're not? If this is, you and have accused a friend of cheating then you can request to watch a game play and then seeing that they are not guilty after all. Just that you need to practice a little bit more. As all gamers are noobs at the start of any game. The only PRO is the PS4 PRO, LOL. I'm just kidding. The game developers are the pros. Overall, If you want the best then this is the place as no one else can deny this truth Pros: 4K gaming (native or upscale) Boost mode HDR support Reliable User friendly interface Remote play AC wireless setting Super sampling Exclusive games Media player 4K photo Share play Live stream HDMI link Record game play (60 minutes max at 1080p) Capture photo (up to 4k) Custom wallpaper (new feature) Voice command 3 USB port (2 front, 1 back) Support Netflix, Hulu and more Innovative Cons: No 4K blue ray drive Cannot store video, music or photos on system Media player does support all video file Noisy fan Unable to disable DS4 bar light No account share with friends
