Great Deal!
Ok, yea, well, it comes with black mold on one side as other reviewers have stated, so I give it 4/5 stars. Obviously it sat in a wet box in storage some place and the distributor bought them cheap, but he sells them at a discount so we make out. The mold is easy to remove with hydrogen pyroxide or clorox and a dish washer scrubber sponge. It leaves a slight stain, but no biggie. Nice looking oak wood and very strong! Ok for close quarter self defense but also carry a non lethal Byrna pepper ball gun or pepper spray for stopping aggressive animals and people at a distance. This is a last resort close quarter club that is convenient to carry but could cause permanent crippling damage possibly leading to legal consequences. I think I'll drill a hole at the end of the handle for a lanyard for a secure grip. Also two holes: one front of the grip and a second at the butt end of the grip would allow looping the lanyard through the 2 holes for an even tighter lanyard grip!

Perfect size to use for protection against loose dogs!
We have loose pit bulls in my neighborhood and have already been attacked once. Or I should say my dog was the target. Now I carry this little bat with me. It is a full size bat that is shorter. Not a puny child’s bat.

Cracked and Dented
So I bought the bigger version a few years ago. It was too heavy to swing (6'1 male who works out) and the wood had large unfinished chips in it.But I figured I'd give them a try again with the smaller size. This one is a decent size and weight, but it's got a large crack in it, and large but finished chips near the pomel. If you want an ugly stick for beating wart covered orc faces in and making their malicious smirks vanish in jiffy with an easy to use thumper beater thingy that's just as butt ugly as they are, I suppose this would work. Then again, unless they get some quality control, seriously consider something like Cold Steel Brooklyn bats.

Too Short!
I guess I did not pay attention to the 16" in the description - so 'my bad'. Also fairly high priced for essentially a SMALL club. Got this for protection against pit bulls running loose in the neighborhood. The bat is hefty enough (i.e., weighs enough) to provide some protection, but because it so short the dogs (or whomever or whatever) would have to be so close to you for you to be able to use it, just wouldn't feel comfortable. I'll file under 'lessons learned' and get a full sized baseball bat or similarly long hefty club.
