Great Value with a couple of Reservations
Still early days after purchase but in respect of its primary function as a Sat Nav, it is good. The sound quality isn’t brilliant but it is audible and loud enough.The only negatives are around connectivity. Firstly, although it has WiFi, you can’t use it to download the latest software and maps (which are inevitably out of date as it is not a current model) unless the device is charged. You can’t charge it with the USB cable supplied, as this is only for software/map downloads and it doesn’t charge the device. Bizarre.. So you have to buy another cable, which I bought on Amazon for £3.99. This was a game-changer, as it charges and allows downloads from your PC/laptop. It also means that you can power the device from a USB socket in the car; the supplied power source requires a cigar lighter, and not all modern cars have one.Second issue, is no big deal but it would be good to have voice commands over the car stereo via Bluetooth but try as I may, I can’t get it to pair with my wife’s MINI, despite the car and device both having Bluetooth. It recognises the MINI but fails to connect every time.So VfM is excellent and it achieves the basics I wanted but come on, Garmin, supply an appropriate USB cable and make it easy to connect to stereo via Bluetooth.Addendum - Garmin Product Support confirmed that this model will not connect to car stereo for audio output via Bluetooth.

A sat nav that will work well and do more for less outlay.
I have always bought TomTom in the past but never again as the Garmin beats them hands down much better user interface/ better guides/user manual , easier by far to set up and program particularly if using coordinates and even has working voice recognition,seamless wi fix updates the list goes on, Do not go for TomTom unless you like stress and being given the runaround if you have a problem,I speak from a good deal of experience of their alleged customer “service”, almost forgot if you really need a reverse camera without night vision albeit it will cost another 75.00 gbp to buy the wireless camera kit which is no big deal to fit which interfaces with the sat nav screen. All this tech for probably a third of the cost of a TomTom of probably lower spec;

Does what is expected of it.
Works well easy to use only thing I am not keen on is the screen is very reflective I have to tilt it down otherwise all you can see is the reflection of everything in front of it especially in bright daylight.

Broken down after 2 months
This Garmin 51 has broken down and after contacting support and talking to many advisors at Garrmin it is still broken. Do not buy it. It lost maps and I then had to buy an SD card to add the maps again.After that it loaded maps but lost a lot of the features and is no use. It has no voice navigations and other things missing.

Fantastic satnav
Brought this for my daughter, and it's amazing, tells you what lane to use, and the street name's you need to turn down, really good value for money and fast delivery. 👍
