Hands-On Virtual Computing

Good book but does not cover latest versions of VMware products
My ITNW1313 Computer Virtualization class uses this as the class/lab text book. I find the book to do a fair job of teaching VM concepts but the struggle with a printed book and technology is that it can easily be outdated as new versions of the software it covers is released. This book was published in 2017 with 2018 copyright, and I think it wasn't available until 1-2018 yet it uses VMware Workstation version 12 when version 14 is the current version. I think there are also some discrepancies with ESXi/vSphere as well. If you can overlook these small flaws, the book can help you setup various VM scenarios to learn the concepts. One thing I wish the book did was put more emphasis on WHY some things were done, but overall, I have gained a much better knowledge of VM technology as my class was online and the teacher didn't do ANYTHING other than post most of the steps from the labs from these books as our assignments. Going thru this book as essentially been my 'class' and it has motivated me to put VMware and Hyper V certification on my list of certs to pursue. All in all, if you have some common sense, you can figure things out that may have changed since publishing. One thing I wish that came free with these high priced books is free electronic errata that contains minor updates to ensure you can continue to do the labs and learn the content via a webpage or pdf's or something. I can understand that it takes time to write a book, then have editors review it, then for corrections to be made, etc. but we the customer when paying so much for a book should get some after the sale service.

Great book but physically arrived with damages
The book is great in terms of providing a great foundation on computer virtualization. But it has a little damage as it shows in the picture and that's why I gave 3stare .but I recommend as study material. As well as you will got very fast

Poorly written
Not only is the book dated, but also the book lacks logical flow to help students make sense of the information in a way that they will retain.
