I took one, filled it, and sanded it down to fit my pellet rifle; it worked fine. The stick was not too thin and didn't break, so I know it could be done. The rods stick to the velcro sheet just fine and are not so strong that it's hard to remove the firearm when needed. The only other thing I can say is I would have liked a bigger sheet of Velcro. One issue though, is that all safes do not have plywood shelving to "staple" the upper liner to stabilize it. Gorilla tape seems to work well to adhere the liner to the upper metal shelf in mine. The rods appear well made and the Velcro tips are well adhered (unlike another similar brand which I bought a few years ago- most of which fell off after a few months). I would definitely buy this product again in the future when the need arises.
