AN EXCELLENT AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING ANIMATED ADVENTURE!
When ambitious young bunny Judy Hopps (GINNIFER GOODWIN) tells her parents Stu and Bonnie (DON LAKE and BONNIE HUNT) that she wants to become a police officer rather than work on their traditional carrot farm, they are apprehensive. No rabbit has ever enlisted in the police force before but Judy is determined. Leaving the police academy at the top of her class, Judy is enrolled as an officer in the sprawling city of Zootropolis.Upon arrival, however, her dreams are soon dashed. Amongst her tough colleagues, a bunch of rhinos and big cats, she looks insignificant and out of place. Worse still, Chief Bogo (IDRIS ELBA) immediately puts her on traffic duty but Judy is determined not to spend her life as a meter maid.A chance meeting with sly con artist Nick Wilde (JASON BATEMAN), a fast talking but charming fox, and subsequent capture of petty criminal Duke Weaselton (ALAN TUDYK) elevates Judy’s status within the station and she finds an important and powerful ally in assistant mayor Bellweather (JENNY SLATE). Very soon she finds herself propelled into a mystery when several predators are reported missing and others, for no apparent reason, are suddenly turning feral and attacking their herbivore neighbours. As a predator himself, Mayor Lionheart (J K SIMMONS) wants a quick resolution to the problem. With the once peaceful balance of carnivore and herbivore now under threat and fear spreading rapidly throughout the city, Judy enlists a reluctant Nick to help solve the case. Their adventure takes them on a dangerous journey involving a fateful meeting with criminal kingpin Mr Big (MAURICE LaMARCHE) and his gang of polar bear henchmen and Nick’s contact Flash (RAYMOND S PERSI), a none-too-hurried sloth! In ZOOTROPOLIS, directors BYRON HOWARD and RICH MOORE have created a real gem, a living world full of humour and clever ideas. The delightful characters may be animals but their traits are definitely human. There are scenes which will delight young children but enough depth in the storyline for adults to enjoy too. Humour is at times almost slapstick one moment and then much, much darker the next. Throughout the film there is an undercurrent of prejudice between the carnivores and herbivores bubbling below the surface which puts a strain on the growing friendship between Judy and Nick. Can they put their difference aside in time to save the city and restore order once more?Special Features include a nice array of featurettes (running to around 48 minutes in total), a 3 minute SHAKIRA music video and 28 minutes worth of deleted scenes. Subtitles are available and an audio selection featuring English, German and Italian languages. The running time of 108 minutes feels just right and I found ZOOTROPOLIS an enjoyable film which I am sure to watch many more times in future!

Fun, surprising movie.
I already owned this movie and originally bought it without knowing anything about it. It turned out to be a great, fun movie. Especially the scene at the motor vehicle department. I bought this disc for my son. I was totally surprised that they changed the name from "Zootopia " to "Zootropolis", why, I don't know.

Great Movie!
Its called Zootropolis because it is in Spanish....*note to self. It is called Zootopia in English for those of us who aim to make a "quick purchase" mentality instead of taking the time to read the label. It was a great Christmas mishap. We love the movie and the memory to go with it!
