Best drill bit set I have ever owned.
As soon as I got my first set of DrillHog bits I put them to the test. Of course every body knows all the hype and false advertising that goes on, so I first registered my serial numbered set. Then I pulled out a welding project I had ordered these to help complete. Not everyone knows what AR400 or AR500 steel is, so in short, it is a mild steel that the higher the number the more scratch or dent resistant it is. My project was to drill 16 1/4” holes in 3/8” AR 500 so I could attach heavy casters on to the metal drum dolly I had TIG welded. So, I chose a size drill bit for my pilot hole and 5/16 for my finished hole. Before starting I pulled out some drilling salve to keep my new bits cool and never got into a hurry. The metal chips where perfect in size and the color of the chips reminded me of my cold cut saw chips. I notice when replacing them after cleaning them up, these suckers were still really sharp still. Now I have to have the Jobber Length set next. M42 drills are the bomb and if you have been using SS these will blow you away.Would love to become a spokes person for Drill Hog Made. And yes, these suckers are made in the USA and their quality shows the manufacturer truly takes pride in their products.

Best general-purpose steel. 1/64" increments. Good value. Made in US. Lifetime guarantee. This has it all.
I bought this set primarily for the steel – M42 is the best steel for general usage with wood and metals. But I was impressed with everything else. Even the case is a cut above others I have, and hearkens back to the days whe US manufacturing was in its prime. Simple, no gimmicks, but with a heft and precision that is satisfying. The surprise for me was the lifetime guarantee... if a bit ever breaks they will replace it. I don't really know how that would pan out with shipping and all, but it represents the manufacturer's pride in the product. The only fault I might have is that the coating on the bits was contaminated with particles of some sort, leaving a pretty rough surface. It was also a bit sticky. It doesn't make much difference in usage, but I would think they could improve on that area. All in all, I'm completely satisfied. This is what the internet can do: bring us choices directly from the manufacturers and make US craftsmanship affordable. Hope to see more of this.

These bits are incredible!!!
I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and finally got I chance to try my drill hog m42 drill bits out. Everyone in my shop couldn't believe the way I drilled through a broken grade 8 bolt like it was nothing!! Huge ribbons of metal shavings the whole time I was drilling. I stopped twice just to oil the bit to be safe but probably could've just kept on drilling. When I first ordered I didn't even realize these were lifetime warranty bits. I didn't know companies even did that with drill bits but it's great! Once you receive your bits just go to drill hogs website and type in your serial # (on sticker in box) After that you're all set! If you break a bit you just mail it to drill hog and they'll send a new one right back. I hear the whole process takes around 2 weeks, which ain't too bad. If you're drilling through metal then these 8% Cobalt drill hogs are for you! Thank you drill hog for making my job a little "bit" easier

Not as they are said to Be.
The bits are Okay but not really any better than what you can buy at your local hardware store. The bits still break and get dull. The warranty is a Joke as there is no company in Montana and the number on the box is a California mail box. I agree with others this is probably a china made product.

Definitely worth the money.
Can you by drill bits for less at big box stores ? Yes. Do they match the quality and are made in the USA ? NOPE !!!! These are fantastic tools. Razor sharp and hold their edge. I won’t buy any other brand.

Fantastic bits to drill in steel
I had to drill 20 1/4" holes in 3/16" angle iron that I was welding for a project. Decided to compare the Drill Hog cobalt bits to both name brand titanium nitride and black oxide bits (Dewalt & Ridgid). Absolutely no comparison. The M42 cobalt bits were much faster and left 4 - 5 inch drill shavings (see photo). They cut the metal with no problem. The other bits - which were new - barely made any shavings and I had to use a lot of force to drill through. Never wrote a review before, but I was so impressed with the Drill Hog cobalt bits that I had to take a picture and write up. For me the Drill Hog bits are the go to for drilling metal. I'll save all the other type of bits for drilling wood or plastic. Definitely worth the money. Went back and ordered the 12 pack of 1/4" bits.

Have been cutting through tough steel with no problem so far.
Used on plate steel and stainless steel so far and works just fine. No problem drilling through either. Waiting to see how they keep an edge over time and use. If they keep it up I'll update the review.

Dont buy these - Please read the review
I purchased a 21 Piece set. Two bits snapped upon the very first use. No big deal I thought - there's a lifetime warranty. HOLY CRAP HERE COMES ALL CAN OF WORMS. Here is a list of massive red flags. Don't just take my word for it - go to their site and see for yourself. I even called the UPS store that he has listed for his shipping address.1- There is absolutely no customer service contact info. No email. No phone. Nothing2 - The warranty process is very sneaky. You must register the bits and then they provide you with an address that they request you ship the bits to. Thats it. Nothing more. Theres no way to contact these people3- It seems like a fly by night operation that I'm sure will not be around very long. I would could on that lifetime warranty. As far as they bits themselves, they're okay. Average run of the mill. I only purchased them because the lifetime warranty but holy crap have we all been jerked around. Many stories online of people sending in their bits and never hearing a word after months. Given the way this "business" is setup - I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.Don't make the same mistake I did guys. The warranty is worthless and the bits are average at best
