Turntable Stand

I recommend this product based on the level of care taken to create it

So here's the thing. The item shows up, and you think to yourself "Hmmm...this is just a crate with some stain on it".And then you realize that the crate's the perfect size, and very well-built. You won't find a crate like this in the wild. And the stain's well-applied, just "rustic" enough.Then you put your turntable on top, and it looks like it was designed to be placed there.Then you throw your record cleaner and other accessories onto the top shelf and feel relieved to have it off the counter and conveniently placed right there beneath the turntable.And you load lots of records onto the other shelf, loving the convenience and emptying out space wherever you previously kept those records. All this stuff - all the stuff you need - is right there, and not in some big formal cabinet, but in this hip little crate you can easily move around.Just around that point, you realize that, yes, this is simple. But it's simple perfection.

I really want to like this shelf. But there are some pain points:1) There are little supports in the upper corners that prevent the records from laying flush against the sides of the unit unless you angle the LPs quite a bit. I'm concerned this might cause the albums to warp over time.2) The slight roughness of the material means that as I put LPs back in, the outer sleeves come off a bit. I can correct this by carefully clearing room to each side of the LP, but this is a time-consuming and annoying process.At the end of the day, I needed a solution that would fit as many records as possible in a small space. This unit does that, is well-made and looks pretty darn good to boot. But a collector with valuable pieces in their collection would likely find the flaws with this shelf to be such that it might not be usable.

As it was a bit on the expensive side, I hesitated for a minute but ended up buying this piece. I'm glad I did! It looks fantastic and stands out in the space. People ask me about it all the time, many believing I refinished it myself. These are hand made by a small business, so it feels good to support them.One suggestion is to put some lacquer on the top so if you set something there it won't stain.Highly recommend!

Everything about the stand is excellent. Holds my record player very well. The reason I'm giving this 4 stars is simply because of the stain they use. When I took it out of the box, the box actually had residual stain on the inside because they didn't let the stand dry enough before putting it in. It also stunk up the house for a day of two. So not a huge complaint, but I highly recommend opening the stand outside and letting it dry before you bring it into your home.

Some of the reviews complained that the support pieces took several inches away from storing full-size records and that is true. However, that space makes pulling a record out fairly easy and having the support pieces makes these boxes extremely sturdy, much more so than I expected and there's no putting anything together. They are also much more finished than I expected with the slats sanded smooth. They arrive smelling of the finish but we left them out empty for awhile and the smell dissipated. They are stained a darkish tone and I might give them another coat of stain to darken them but as is, they are perfect. If I need more storage I can just oder another one.

I love this! It is nice and sturdy. I also love that it is built to function perfectly for storing maximum records and my record player, without taking up extra space in my house. It’s a simple design that wouldn’t fit everyone’s decor, but we have a sort of modern farmhouse decor and it works beautifully with that. Also, it arrived a day early (less than a week from order to in my house!), was packed well (perfect condition), and no assembly required! A great value, for sure!
