TIme will tell for durability, but this saved my motorcycle
Had a bolt for my oil filter cover on my motorcycle get stripped out because I tightened it like a cavemen. Performed oil change, went to torque bolt but it kept spinning in its hole. My buttcheeks clenched in terror as I realized I may have a serious issue with my beloved machine, caused by mine own hands.Being the neanderthal that I am, I figured I could push the screwdriver harder to force the bolt to bite onto some threads. After actually accomplishing this, I puffed out my chest as man defeated stupid metal, and went to turn bike on to cycle fresh oil. Immediately after starting, the bolt gave way and precious liquid gold started spraying from the oil filter cover like an actress on onlyfans.I immediately killed the engine and reclenched my buttcheeks. If a piece of coal had been between them, surely a diamond wouldve been formed from the immense pressure. Knowing I had just potentially harmed my two wheeled goddess, I removed the other bolt from the filter cover and let the oil drain slowly from the filter housing, much like my tears. At this point I knew I was knee deep in the stuff. The bolt hole I had stripped was a mere 5mm from the filter housing, and on the edge of my engine case. A very sticky situation. I could try and tap and die to put in an M6 bolt, or I could try and rethread this one and use the magical helicoil. After conversing with some more mechanically inclined friends, I decided to go with the helicoil. The helicoils arrived (quickly) and I knew it was now or never. Get the damn thing fixed or be prepared to sacrifice some of that non-thiccc engine case to tap and die. After reading the instructions about 10 times, watching a couple videos to ensure I was properly prepared to perform repair, I went to the garage. My sweet, dear, currently crippled motorcycle say a couple inches off the ground on stands, the horizontal operating table ready for business. Then I installed the helicoil per directions. It was super easy and it worked like a charm. Bolt has held for about 600 miles so far next to an engine that puts out over 150hp and 110 ft lbs of torque to the rear, and is driven like it is stolen constantly. It was honestly very easy to do, felt very not good / comfortable reaming into my engine case, but it wasnt bad. Thanks XT AUTO for the affordable and effective solution to my problem.

Far Better
Far better than the original aluminum treads that came in my Milwaukee pole saw attachment. Everything I needed to put it back better than new.

They Work as Expected
The drill, tap, tools, and inserts all work as expected. However, let me say this. These small inserts, by their nature, are very difficult to get started in the threaded hole. That is not a comment about this brand in particular, it is just a fact of life of these small inserts. Order extras. I have a very mechanical background, and I just installed 78 of these. I probably damaged 10 of the inserts and had to reinstall those. Order some extras.

Great for repair of Shimano cable screw clamp threads
The cable clamp screw on my Shimano derailer stripped because the helicoil threaded thru the body of the shifter mechanism. I needed the helicoil and tap, this was an inexpensive solution as it included the helicoil insertion tools, tap, and helicoils- I now have a lifetime supply for these repairs.
