Very happy with this product; I actually look forward to applying it after shaving. It does indeed have a soothing effect, but also has just a bit of a bracing/refreshing quality as well. I really like the scent of this balm. I do not like musky, woody or flowery type of scents, and this is none of those. It's difficult to describe adequately, but to my senses it's sort of a Spearmint, Aloe and hint of citrus scent. I also like that it's not overpowering. You will enjoy the scent, but it's not so strong that it will ruin the aroma of that coffee and doughnut you might have, or clobber any people you might pass by. It's consistency is just right; not pasty or watery, and doesn't leave a greasy or oily residue. Lastly, it's one of the few, more reasonably priced, quality aftershave balms available. For the past few years I have been using "Proraso Aftershave Balm for Sensitive Skin", and while I really like the Proraso, it's a tad on the expensive side for me, thus I started looking for a cheaper alternative. I am glad I did. I like Woody's better than Proraso, and it is a much better value. (Purchased Feb' 2024, US$12 for 6oz. plastic tube ($2/oz)).

I have used preshave oil for years. This is so much thicker than some of the other inexpensive oils but so much cheaper than Art of Shaving. Love the scent too.

Let me start by saying I really like the Woodys brand. All of their products are affordable , high quality, and a good value. Especially in a world with all these new way over priced male grooming companies…smh. That being said I wasn’t a big fan of this product. I primarily use shave butter for shaving and have tried a few different brands. This one is not transparent/translucent/see through, take your pick you know what I mean and that was the ONLY reason that I didn’t really like this one. Always makes me laugh when I hear guys talk about needing to have a face covered in lather, mayo, peanut butter so they know where they’ve already made a pass with their razor lol. I definitely use a mirror to see but I also primarily go by feel by running my hand over the areas to see if there are any hairs I’ve missed. If I just smeared on lather and ran the razor down my face like cutting the grass i would get an awful shave. Anyways I prefer to be able to see what I’m doing and this stuff is a white paste like consistency on your face. Definitely moisturizing like all shave butters and definitely smells great like all Woodys products……has a light citrus peel like scent to it which is very nice. One of the great things about shave butters is that they can also be used as your aftershave balm/moisturizer making them a 2 in 1 product. So now this product is strictly on post shaving duty and it does its job perfectly. Put a tiny dab(pea size) in a wet hand or face and rub it in. Absorbs super quick and leaves your face feeling great. So there you have it, I don’t even really like this product but I can still use it for something else, that’s how good the Woodys brand is. I only docked one star because of the consistency but that’s just a personal preference. I still highly recommend anything Woodys brand and yes I would buy this product again…….just not for shaving. I normally do not write reviews where my chin hairs are concerned but here l go. My sight is bad and l can't pluck so l started shaving my chin with a razor, DRY shaved and my break outs were horrible. I started looking for a post 🪒 cream, l ordered Woody's. I used it after shaving and it's great, l then thought 💭 well let me try this to soften beforehand and this is wonderful 👍😊. By the way it smells great 😃. You need it to say for men and women. I bet it would do great for pre-shaving for the legs in the 🚿. GOOD product👍

A great product and after shave balm.

So, first of all: it works. I don't fault it for doing what it's supposed to do.However, I don't care much for the smell, and the consistency seems... odd to me.

One or two other reviewers seem to have moaned about this product's relative lack of lather.Well,I firmly believe that when it comes to a shaving lather,quality beats quantity every time!,this stuff produces a lovely,rich,creamy lather (reminds me of the stuff my old man used,when I was a kid,"Palmolive" I think! ,and re-lathers well with just a few drops of water so,you don't need to use that much of the product each time you shave.Having tried dozens of shave-prep products over the years,I think I've actually found one that I'll really stick with!,a nice bit of kit.Btw,I would also heavily recommend "Woody's" soothing post-shave balm.
