**Q: are these more rigid or thicker than usps flat rate mailers?**
A: thicker yes.  I think USPS mailer is 200-250GSM.   I estimate they are about 300GSM material.  I was hoping for 350 myself but they will work for what I need.

A: The mailers I have open on the long side. They would accomodate your 8x8 canvas board. The mailers are very rigid. I've re-ordered.
