A Well Told Book About The Inspirational Journey Of A Man Who Really 'Walks The Talk'
I'm a longtime superfan of Martin Sheen's work as an actor -- and now, after reading Sr. Rose's book, I'm now a superfan of his very being. There are stories about him, and those told by him, that really gave me tremendous insight as to who Martin Sheen really is; some stories were outrageously inspiring (I dare anyone to read this book and not want to become a better person - even just a little bit!), some were hugely profound (especially one story about him coming upon the scene of a car accident and discovering that one of the victims was a nun he knew), some cracked my heart wide open (he really is an amazing and loving being who has the highest love and respect for humanity -- and not just 'humanity' in general, but real people he comes across in his day to day life who he honors and serves with a whole heart!!!) and some stories that made me truly laugh out loud (especially a delicious one about a note his wife left in the 'Intention Box' at Lourdes). One of those interviewed in the book mentioned Martin's "sincerity and goodness", and Sr. Rose also makes note of his beautiful heart and humor, and how this most passionate activist (who's been arrested more than 60 times for non-violent protests and speaking out for human rights!) is also filled with such genuine JOY... Those qualities really resonated with me throughout the entire book... I also loved that Sr. Rose tells the story of a very human being -- she explores his struggles and honors his life's journey so far on a deeply personal and spiritual level. His remarkable and compelling journey (which includes his mother suddenly dying while sitting in a rocking chair and praying the rosary when he was 11, leaving he and his 7 other siblings to be raised by his single father who never remarried) told in such a wonderful, easy-to-read and never preachy style -- also makes this book a great gift for anyone you might know who's going through a difficult time who could really use some inspiration -- and a powerful shot of faith. Martin's entire life is a testament to the power of faith, love, gratitude, and the responsibility to give a voice to those in need and treat them with the highest dignity and respect. He really 'Walks the Talk', lending his celebrity and giving his own money, time and voice to humanitarian causes... Martin Sheen is indeed 'Devotion in Motion'!!! Whenever I'd watch him on the West Wing, like countless others, I SO wished that Jed Bartlett really WAS our president. After reading this book... I'd vote for MARTIN SHEEN for president any day!!!! I'm beyond grateful to Sr. Rose for writing this book about someone so special, yet so humble, who really deserves to be divinely 'outed' for the loving and faith-filled man, humanitarian, and genuinely great guy that he is.

A Good Man and a good book.
Sr. Rose Pacatte's book is fascinating in that it is a "below the skin" tour of life that make up the person who is Martin Sheen. He is not a famous movie star.He is not a rich flashy man of arrogance.Who he is: man on a journey, just like the rest of us.Sr. Rose wrote about Martin Sheen's career, activism and his personal journey. (The book is not at all about his family life). It is inspirational bio about keeping real, selfless, gentle, and knowing when to surrender.
