An unexpected twist
This was such a long book; 100 chapters of varying lengths and it's the only one I've read in the Celtic Brooch series. I must admit I'm not really interested in reading any others and The Sapphire Brooch satisfied me enough.I quite liked Charlotte, especially when she travelled to the time of the Civil War and endured all the horror of conflict. This was very well written and I felt I was there too.I'm not so sure about Braham, who I saw as a middle aged man. I suppose I was thinking of the many photos I've seen of Union officers standing outside army tents puffing on cigars. When Braham came to the 21st century, I didn't find it credible that he could drive five hundred miles with just the manual as his guide. Since it takes a person living in this century, quite a few months to learn to drive, I think it would be highly unlikely for him to be able to operate the controls and judge the traffic conditions on the busy roads of our time. I'd have been more comfortable if he'd caught the train. The other characters in The Sapphire Brooch were numerous; some overlapping from the The Ruby Brooch, but this didn't spoil the narrative for me. In fact I did get to know a lot of what happened in The Ruby Brooch.I'm happy to give this story four stars since there was an unexpected twist that I didn't see coming. Recommended for lovers of time travel stories.

Captivating
A love story with two centuries apart - the horrors of the American Civil War that inadvertently brought them together and separated them, both of them being there when Abe Lincoln was assassinated- this is surely one heck of a tapestry to follow.

Tender time travel romance
Brilliant book about time travel back to the time of the American civil war. Written with great attention to detail and with tender romantic moments. Loved it. I should have read the Ruby brooch first but have now got it and can't wait to start reading it
