Mark Crilley's Ultimate Book of Drawing

Great basic / beginner resource for drawing hands
Any artist will tell you that one of the most challenging subjects to draw is hands or feet. I am a fairly experienced artist and these subjects are my bane, as well. I own several of Mark Crilley’s other books (A Drawing Lesson, Mastering Manga series), so I knew I could expect another good art reference from this. The author breaks hands down into their basic shapes and describes common pitfalls when drawing hands. There are examples of a few common poses and chapters on different hand styles. This book is best suited for beginners, but if you’re already good at drawing hands and are looking for a wide variety on hand poses or a pose library, you may want to look at some different resources. One of my favorites for this is a manga reference (“700 hand poses”, in Japanese language). All in all, the most important thing to remember is that the only way to really master drawing hands is by putting in hours of practice ;). This book will serve as a great guide along the way.

Great variety and fun learning
Let me say right off that I am a big fan of Mark Crilley and his YouTube instructional videos. I so enjoyed learning about the different types of hands drawn for animation, anime, and realism. He provides wonderful examples and in depth study of hand drawings and anatomical details of the hand. A lot to learn but he breaks it down so it is accessible and fun!

Seems good
The instructions seem simple enough to follow and there is great info. I just wish the ‘final product’ was a bit more realistic, as in shading, etc, but I suppose that’s a different book.
