"Om Ma Da" is the sacred Maha (great) Mantra given by Sri Adi Da to his devotees. In the East it is deemed a great blessing to hear one's Guruchanting. Here we also have the Great One infusing himself into the playing of the Tamboura, which epitomizes the radiant infiniteall pervading eternal spirit power that liberates. In l984, Avatar Adi Da intoned this mantra to show devotees how to do so and it was spontaneously recorded for all time. What a rare gift! It was given by him as one way to invoke his transcendental spiritual presence and realized state, as a way for us to be in heart communion with his love bliss. A potent spiritual transmission, it directly transmits a mood of equanimity and the feeling of the deep mystery of existence. It is an ecstatic call to rest in contemplation of the guru, since "you become what you meditate on." In his Samadhi, we hear the primal universal Om, the repeated drone of the cosmic sound above, beyond and deeper than the gross and subtle plane. It is the sound of conscious light (which he is) at the source of all, manifest everywhere in the cosmos. Meditating to this disc is a wonderful way to lose one's sense of separate self and worldly concerns, to refresh oneself in his powerful voice and presence.
