Understanding Williams Syndrome: Behavioral Patterns and Interventions

Accurate portrayal
My granddaughter has WS so her parents and I are always looking for information about this rare condition. There is not a lot available and so much that is written is not accurate. People with WS are often portrayed as being always happy and being musical virtuosos. I adore my granddaughter and she is sweet and loving but she also has temper tantrums and other behavior issues which are very difficult for my daughter and son-in-law to control. This book lists the various behavior patterns and also gives some solutions to the problems. My only problem is that it reads like a textbook which is difficult for a layman but maybe its target audience is the professionals who help those with WS. I skimmed through a lot of it and highlighted what was important to me. I will be passing it on to my daughter in the hope that it will be of help to her family.

Insightful and Thorough!
This is an incredibly well written and researched book. It's probably the best book out there for kids with Williams Syndrom, and a lot of it applies to children on the Asperger's / Autism spectrum, too. If you've ever wished that your child came with a manual, look no further! It not only explains what's going on, it gives you very concrete steps you can take to help your child learn, adjust and develop to his or her full potential.Highly recommended for any parent, teacher, therapist or pediatrician who will have the pleasure of meeting one of these charming (and occasionally frustrating) children.

Helpful book for my daughter
This was a gift to my daughter for Christmas, as she was researching WilliamsSydrome. The fact the authors had experienced working with Williams Syndrome children was reassuring to her. Since then a doctor testing her suggested shedid not have it, but blood tests would show definitely. Thanks to Amazon forproviding a way to access information about a variety of things.

williams syndrome the unknown defect
This is a great informational book about williams Syndrome for people that don't have any idea what the genetic defect is like. The only thing that I wish that they would have added into the vast amount of information was to discuss the health problems that are connected with this disorder.

Three Stars
Comprehensive but a bit difficult to read unless you are very motivated.
