The fibrous content of the material is very easy to cut, and you can feather the edge down to almost nothing creating a very smooth taper. I installed it in no time using a few staples to keep it in place and used flooring tape on the seams. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Vapor barrier should be installed ONLY if the the installation is in a basement that is very damp and humid, or a first floor of a house without a basement and also with the same moist conditions. If the floor you are working on is in upper floors, or not in a dry humid environment, vapor barrier is not needed. Also, vapor barrier might be needed if the concrete slab is newly poured, and it did not have enough time to cure and dry. Otherwise, by all means, use without any barrier. It will benefit your microclimate in the house. We hope this helps you and please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.The SunCo America Team **Q: I am installing evp or lvp flooring, will this underlayment be ok?** A: Since vinyl isn't rigid like laminate or other wood type flooring I find out that cork maybe better option because of higher PSI sq ft especially when you use 1/4 option or more. Being this say manufacturer recommend this underlayment and I would use 1/8 version without blink of an eye. Simply I love it after I done laminate floor. **Q: Can you put down vinyl planks with peel off back (adhesive) on this?** A: I do not recommend doing that as these are made out of compressed material. So if you glue any thing to it it will just fall apart **Q: Do I need to adhere this to the current brick paver floor or just lay it on top? If it needs to be adhered, what should I use?** A: There is no need to to use an adhesive. You can simply lay our product on top of the existing floor and lay the finishing floor on top of it. For more comfort of installation, you can use small pieces of adhesive tape to connect the wood underlayment sheets with each other. However, if the gaps between bricks in your current brick paver floor are deeper than the thickness of the underlayment you want to use, we suggest you to level the existing floor first. Also, in order to avoid matching of gaps between bricks in your current brick paver floor with lock system of finishing floor, we suggest to lay down the underlayment with an angle against the gaps between bricks in the existing floor as it is written in our installation instructions (you can find a downloadable copy in our listing). Definitely will buy more in 2026. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great option *by J***T on January 30, 2024* We removed 3/4" hardwood and replaced with1/4" LVP. This 1/4" Steico product was a great alternative solution to laying 1/2 OSB or other 4x8 sheets of fiber board to level my floors. Easy to work with and yea it is very dusty but worth it in savings and also sound dampening. Tip: after cutting out the holes for floor vents, use duct tape around the inner edges of your floor vents and fold over the fiberboard to prevent any dust from the product being blown out when your hvac fan runs.
