A Partisan's Memoir: Woman of the Holocaust
A**N
A narrative about the horrors of the Holocaust and the hardship of Jewish Holocaust survivors in Soviet partisan units.
The murder of Fayeβs family and the Jewish population of Lenin at the hand of Nazis is absolutely terrifying. What is also alarming for me to learn is the widespread antisemitism among Soviet partisans.I admire the courage and perseverance of Faye, who distinguished herself in countless perilous situations as a Soviet partisan. A true heroine.

A different perspective
When I learned about the Holocaust, I never heard about the partisans or other ways the Jewish people were fighting back. This is a story of an incredibly strong and intelligent woman.

Absolutely amazing!!
5 stars for this amazing, well written personal memoir of the legendary Faye Schulman! I have had the honor to meet her in person as well and her story is amazing. There aren't many people in the world who would have been capable of the things she did. She is a hero, yet very humble. In this self written memoir she is very humble as well, but anyone who'll read it will be in awe for the things she survived, fought, accomplished and lived through!

A Partisans Memoir
Having seen a photographic exhibit of her work in Seattle, I wanted to read about this amazing woman !!!! to have survived period, but to have been able to capture some of the war, The Nazi invasion of Polandto have protected her camera, her ability to develop some negatives in the forest and to finally stay alive fighting for several years without a home in Eastern Poland !!! the quality of the photos is remarkable.this woman does not boast, is not overwhelmed with bitterness. she just wants people to know what happened. I cannot imagine her life. she alone survived from her family in Belarus.I appreciate Amazon for it can make available and deliver unusual books. thank you so much.

Moving story
This is a fascinating book. Ms. Schulman details all that she endured to survive during the Nazi occupation of her country. I learned a great deal that I hadn't known about the partisan network that existed to fight back against the Nazis. Yet even in the partisan groups that had the unifying cause to fight against the Nazis, there was antisemitism. Regardless of how often Ms. Schulman risked her life to help her partisan group she was still regarded negatively as a Jew first and a partisan a distant second.

One of the best Holocaust books! A must read!
My teenage daughter first read Faye Schulman's book and then told me I HAD to read it. Wow! What a story! What a woman! It was so well-written. I am full of admiration for Faye and what she endured. When I bought the book years ago, I had no idea that Faye was a good friend of my aunt and uncle in Toronto. Last summer, on a trip from Israel to Canada, my daughter got to meet her hero and spend almost two hours listening to her stories. It was the highlight of her trip. I'll never forget when I received a photo of her, Faye and the book (signed, of course). What joy!

Well-written True Story About The Brutality and Suffering.
Lots of detail and well-written. It is shocking what partisans and jews (those that avoided the gas chambers) had to endure, and the brutality they were exposed to, the lack of food, the terrible conditions, and that they were able to somehow keep going on often less than a slice of bread a day.

What a survivor this woman was. Fighting with the anti-semetic Russians must have been unreal.
