Hellema - Speculaas Spiced Gourmet Cookies in Delft Tin (Dutch) (14 Oz.)

The tin measures exactly what is stated in the Package Dimensions: ‎ 8.31" x 5.39" x 2.44". I received 33 cookies. with 11 cookies in each of 3 cellophane packages. Mine weighed 14.4 oz (411 grams).I did not receive the tin that is shown. Mine was a much lighter blue. It was nice enough, but I was expecting the one shown.The packaging was great. The tin itself was bubble wrapped and then placed in a sturdy box. This box was placed in an Amazon plastic shipping bag. The tin had no dents but there are a couple of cracked cookies as you can see in the photo. This is expected with shipped cookies.As for the taste of the cookies I would like to recommend that you read the description before you purchase. Taken from their description "Originally called Speculaas, these spicy windmill cookies were traditionally baked just before St. Nicholas' feast in the Netherlands. Crisp and incredibly flavorful, the authentic Dutch spice cookies are made with fresh cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom and nutmeg, baked to crunchy perfection. I read a few negative reviews that seem as if the purchaser did not know what they were ordering. "Dry and crumbly" are mentioned in some comments. This is not supposed to be a soft cookie. This type of cookie has been around for a very long time and many of us have eaten them in our childhood. They are also not a shortbread cookie. You can ignore those negative reviews. The cookies were very good. I've never had the homemade ones, but these were very good for commercially baked cookies. I buy this type of cookie each year around the holidays from different stores and this was my first from this company, and they were very good. They are made in Holland and I think they know what they are doing. Enjoy the cookies and the nice tin that you can use afterwards.

The cookies are cute. They have a pattern on them, (2 sailors). They taste kinda like a cinnamon grand cracker. I think they would be an excellent gift. The Tin box is beautiful and has a hinged lid. I will buy again! You get 33 cookies. They are about 2x1-1/2 inches, I did not have a ruler, simi-guess- fits in my palm. Cookies are fresh. Excellent to eat alone or with tea or coffee, or ice cream. 😁

Not quite as much spice as I was expecting but still very good. Not sweet as so many cookies are and I liked the lack of sweetness very much. They were excellent cookies with a cup of tea. A lot of them broke quite easily. Still quite delicate even though they're thick. Love the tin! All in all, I'll most likely buy again. A lovely winter-type cookie and a somewhat different flavor than the usual almond windmill cookies that are so easy to find in every supermarket.

Grew up in Holland (MI) and these were a staple growing up. Nostalgia brought these back to me. So obviously I'm a bit biased.The tin is sweet. The cookies taste great. To be fair some arrived broken but whatever they still tasted good. I'd definitely buy these again.

I prefer the spekulaas that I used to eat. Very thin, did not crumble, crisp. And spicier. The ones in this beautiful container are thick, crumbly, very sweet. They are at least three times thicker than the one I like. At least in my memory-----

I was not sure about the taste until I tried one. It was better then I expected, not to strong, just the right crunch. Great with hot coco and the tin looks really nice.

I love the tin. Im a collector. The cookies are very good. My son and law both love them.

I have always enjoyed the cookies, however I bought the tin Because of the Delft, Deco that arrived dented disappointed in that.
