Inheritance Theft: Coping With Family Betrayal Paperback

I thought the book was very informative and comforting. Informative in all the ways relatives can steal your inheritance right out from under you, and how their behavior towards you is "off". The author warns on this as it can be overlooked due to the fact that the thieves are "family" and they love you and would never want to hurt you, or so I thought. I also thought this way until my aunt, brother and cousin worked in tandem to steal a house right out from under me that my uncle left to me in a life estate! (which means I would not inherit the house until my aunt had passed away). They got my name completely removed from his will like I never existed. What they did would be illegal in any other state of our country except for Florida! Beware, Florida is notorious for cheating beneficiaries this way due to a "Homestead" law. They not only stole my inheritance but tried to gaslight me and make me believe I was the one in the wrong for not running to the lawyer's to remove myself from the will!! I had to hire a professional counselor to deal with this as they were viciously attacking my mind on top of it all, and lying and slandering me to all their friends to try and ease what conscience they had left. I felt every emotion that the author described when her sister's stole her inheritance. Every word she used described the gut wrenching, soul crushing feelings that go with a betrayal such as this. Nothing, and I mean nothing hurts as badly as having people you have loved all your life and trusted with all your heart turn around and do something like this all in the name of greed. The author described in graphic detail all that I went through and felt. I was very validated by this book knowing that my gut wrenching feelings were normal with this type of family crime. And it is a crime. A deceased person's last will and testament is the ONLY voice they have after they depart, to designate how they want their possession's divided up when they are no longer here to speak for themselves. How dare another person come along and totally disregard THEIR WISHES and take from another beneficiary such as myself. The author states this is pure good old GREED!! and she is right. My uncle left the three of them very well off with other assets and money, but that was not good enough. They wanted what was suppose to be for me. I did learn from the author the red flags as far as personality changes with the thieves and all the tricks of the trade they can use to complete the heist. I thought the book was extremely validating and informative. I really wish the author Callie, would set up a blog page where people can come and talk about it. The author is correct, the more you talk about what happened to you, the more you heal. Talking is the best therapy. You truly never know what someone else goes through in this life unless you have walked in those same shoes. I do not know how my relatives can peacefully sleep at night with what they did to me. It destroyed my relationship with the three of them forever. Get a top rated lawyer and put everything in a trust! God bless every victim of this crime.

After a sister stole everything from my parents & left them destitute before they died I was really struggling with the betrayal of someone I loved & trusted. This book helped me alot

Reading this book really helped me as my brother recently stole my inheritance as well as my children's. I could relate to the author's pain and helped me to read her thoughts on this. It is such a total betrayal when this happened to me I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around it. Totally painful, sad and awful when my only sibling left alive betrayed me by changing my dad's will only to benefit him and his son. He took eight of my dad's grandchildren who were in his original will completely out of the new one. Pure evil is what I say, he's like dead to me now.

I'm only at page 21 and can tell you it is just what I needed to hear; that my family's inheritance theft was about pure GREED. This is an honorable basic book about the pathetic subject. If a victim is looking for something more substantial along legal lines, you need to look elsewhere. P.S. Because her father's will was never contested; I wondered how the author would avoid a defamation lawsuit regarding this book. She did so by changing the real names associated w/ the actual event.

For anyone who is seriously suffering from inheritance theft, this book is not helpful. It reads like a tabloid story and might interest someone looking for a misery read. The author should burn her thesaurus and get some help with her grammar before publishing another book.
