I originally got my industrial pierced with a black, stainless steel bar, and it refused to heal. My piercing was constantly swollen, irritated, and painful. After switching to this bar, within a couple days the swelling/irritation/pain had all somewhat calmed down. I’ve now had it in for around a week, and my ear feels a lot better. One thing, though, is that this bar is 1. a good bit longer than my old one and 2. the balls on the end are comically large. The extra length means that stuff can get caught on it, ie long hair. The balls just kind of make the piercing look a little stupid. Personally, I’m just using this bar until my piercing is fully healed, so it doesn’t really matter how it looks, but if trying to get this as permanent, pretty jewelry; don’t.

This barbell being titanium is of very good quality, but I can't use it. It os too long, and will look like crap. The listing says it is 1.5 inches long, and it is not 1.5 inches long. It is 1.75 inches long. There will be a whole quarter of an inch hanging out of my ear.

Had my industrial piercing for a couple of months and it was still swollen and painful. My piercer used a bar that had no room on it for moving and swelling, and I think I was also allergic to the surgical steel. This bar felt so much nicer to have in, it didn't magically make all the pain go away but it felt a lot better. One thing I can say is before I had 4mm balls and this bar has 5mm balls, which seemed a bit big to me but I got used to it. Because it is externally threaded along with the large size of the balls, it was super easy to screw on the balls (I usually struggle with internally threaded)

Bought one of these to match my implant grade titanium nose ring. The nose ring is great and I’ve never had an issue with. This industrial barbell though, I’ve had nothing but issues with. I never leave bad reviews. But whatever this is made with, it can’t possibly be implant grade. I really regret trusting the reviews.My industrial piercing is about 5 years old, but ever since I switched to this barbell, I’ve had three WICKED infections.I have to wear a mask, & a headset on that ear at work, but I have never had this problem before switching to this barbell. The first two times myold, completely healed piercing became infected, I didn’t make the connection. I clean my piercings with saline once every day, & my jewelry with alcohol. I have very good hygiene. Shortly after I switched back to my surgical stainless steel barbell, rotating the jewelry as part of my regular routine to clean it, the infections cleared up in a few days.Now I have another infection, way worse than the first two. I took the barbell out to figure out what was going on. Horribly painful, red, & swollen. Blood & pus poured out of the top of my ear. It’s badly infected & I need antibiotics.I cleaned it thoroughly and drained the infection, and ever since I took this barbell out a few hours ago, the pain and swelling have noticeably already improved. Here is a picture of my ear now. I do not have red tinted skin. The color is because of the infection.

My piercer didn't put in a swell bar and the pressure created a keloid. I switched to this piercing and felt the difference within hours. Its big but then again, these don't need to sit tight in your ear when you are healing.

After replacing the barbell I was pierced with, with the new titanium one there was an immediate difference. Over night the pain and the size of the bump forming drastically reduced and after a few more days I feel much more comfortable with the piercing
