Do these only work with philips hue light strip?

Not sure but seems to me that hue is fairly different than other RGB light strips. I used them on Philips hue. They work ok but are kind of a pain to get them to work. They don’t fit great and because of this don’t make 100% contact to all 6 contacts and take a lot of fiddling to get them to work. That’s what I found maybe I want doing it correctly. But may be easier than sourcing the wire and soldering them together.

Can you insert 6 pin connectors into the snap connector?

Hello, great question! No, you can not insert a 6 pin header into the snap connector. If you need to connect a lightstrip with a cut end to a 6 pin header, you will need our Cut-End to 6-Pin cable, which can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C9LRMTK Please feel free to message us directly if you have any other questions!

how do you use the tool?

I didn't use the tool. It was just as easy for me to lift the connection prongs of this connector with a utility (box cutter) knife blade. The instructions weren't all that helpful, but once you figure out to lift the connection prongs of this product enough to slip the Hue light strip "exposed" connections under the prongs, then close the connector up, you'll find this product works extremely well! We created a YouTube video to help understand how we used these - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=966Ew5Fg324 .

The product description now lists a pre-2020 version and another one. however, they both say v3 at the end. is the one without "pre-2020" for v4?

Hello, These items are for the V3 models. We plan to have our V4 compatible products available November 15th. Please feel free to reach out with any further questions. Javíer Litcessory Support
