Good for a classrrom of international students
I purchased several of these when I was teaching for book club and as a classroom reading text. It's an exciting story, with simple vocabulary that the students loved. I loved teaching with this book!

very well received by my ESL students
"Reader from Iowa" gives an excellent summary/review of the book. I wanted to add that my adult English learners (pre-intermediate level) have been very enthusiastic about reading Eye of the Storm. They really look forward to reading the book along with the CD recording.

Engaging
This novel is about the story of a young Japanese woman, Ikemi. It takes place in Florida, and in that time the country was in hurricane warning. A lot of bed experiences happened to her father, Hiru and her american boyfriend, Max.Because a lot of weird events, they found themselves in the middle of a huge hurricane.I really liked this novel. It was not boring because many unexpected facts surprised me. The story of a hurricane that invades Florida`s coasts is also very realistic. I highly recommend this book for people who like suspense.

Very good level 3 graded reader for ESL students
This is a level 3 graded reader for intermediate ESL students. It is part of the Cambridge series of graded readers. The Cambridge reader series is entirely original fiction, no simplified Jane Austen or Mark Twain here. The authors have attempted to write modern, engaging stories that ESL students will enjoy reading because they are good stories and not read because they are "classics" that they "should" read. The series accomplishes this goal very well. Obviously, some stories are bound to be better than others and this is one of the better ones, hence the 5 start rating. It is set in Florida and the audio version is read in American English. It's about a young Japanese-American woman and her relationship with her tradition-minded father who is a local fisherman. She has a white boyfriend that her father does not approve of because he isn't Japanese. The story unfolds against the backdrop of a major storm that puts her father in danger. It's a good story that my students enjoy.A quick note on the American vs. British English difference is these books. Most of the Cambridge series is written in British English and the audio versions are read by Brits but there are one or two American English stories at each level. At this level of English, the difference in not very important and there are only a handful of word differences; things like "flat" vs. "apartment" and "lift" vs "elevator", "I have't got" vs. "I don't have", "police inspector" vs. "detective", like that. It's a minor matter to point these things out to students. Slang and localized idiomatic expressions are generally avoided to keep the English broadly international.

Eye of the Storm
Dynamic, a little of suspense, and pretty cool mix of easy narrative and emotion, make this one of my favourites books. I recomend it for the thriller lovers.
