Great stuff for topping off itty bitty tiny seeds!
There is currently a shortage of vermiculite, so I was thrilled to find it for a good price on here. This is fine grade...perfect for lightly covering seeds that need light to germinate. This is not what you want to store dahlias. Overall, it's a good value and beats trying to crush larger pieces with a rolling pin.I've had lots of vermiculite, but this is the first time I've tried fine grade for horticulture use. Typically I buy whatever I can find, stick it in a Ziploc, and roll/crush it to death to get it so it's fine grade. There's always leftover pieces in it, though, that are too big and have to be picked out. This was used over tiny seeds that needed light to germinate. I put the seeds on the seed starting soil, and then sprinkle the vermiculite on top. The seeds germinated as expected. Note: you'll need a very low pressure water bottle so you can fine mist before applying heavier water, or the vermiculite and seeds will blow everywhere. One tip is to spray directly down on them at first to minimize the blowing, and then you can water like normal. Once your seedlings are up, you can bottom water.Highly recommend! The price was the same as all my local options, too.

shiny sparkly fluffy goodness
although not as much fun as a dog I have gained a certain amount of closeness to this product. I intend on taking a bag of this on my next flight as my comfort companion as it also makes a great pillow.

Why quality was changed ?
When I bought it first time this was perfect fractions, but second time is such a large fractions, I don’t like it and don’t need it. I compared packages - it is same , but deferent product inside. What is going on? How can I change it? This package is open.

Quality deteriorated
I grow oat grass for my cats every week. Since home depot and Lowes have been out I started to look for alternative supply. When I first started ordering the vermiculite was perfect. Later orders were no longer vermiculite. They started adding DIRT to the vermiculite. I've been using vermiculite for 30+ years to grow oat grass for my cats. I will no longer buy this brand as the dirt holds too much water and consequently the grass doesn't grow as well. They have cheap ended their product

not a long-term solution
If you are in a pinch and need this quick but don't have it at your local store, it may be worthwhile. However, for about $3-4, you can get a large bag at the local popular home improvement stores with the pieces being only the slightest bit larger.
