Worth the hype 100%
I resisted this coffee maker for a long time. We've been hard core Capresseo folks for 2 decades. The machines are great but the quality of the brew isn't always great. It tends to brew bitter-ish pots after a while and that's because it starts brewing inconsistently. The idea of paying nearly the same for a coffee maker that only brews drip coffee with no grinder or thermal carafe seemed insane. But I did it anyway. I should have done this years ago. This is THE way to get excellent coffee. We buy specialty beans and they have never been brewed so perfectly hot or tasted this good, smooth, and complex. The reviews talking about cheap plastic and thin glass are just being exceptionally picky. The glass is standard carafe thickness if not a bit thicker. The plastic is fine quality. No the plastic pieces don't seat in tightly. You don't want them to. These pieces will expand and contract with heat. You want them to have room to do that. This is a super simple machine to use that brews exceptionally smooth, hot coffee in a very short amount of time. Protip: don't be like my husband and attempt to fill the basket while it's on the machine. Take it off and put it on the counter to add grounds. Otherwise you risk getting grounds in the reservoir and annoying your wife.

Yes it’s expensive. The best things in life are.
The media could not be loaded. The moment that first sip hits the pallet, you know this is it. This is the pinnacle of what drip coffee is supposed to taste like. It’s what I’ve imaged the tears of a god would taste like. Even a hipster that thumbs their nose at the mere thought of having coffee any other way than a pour over, would confess it’s a good cup of coffee. They would quickly follow up with a a statement that it’s not as good as a hand crafted pour over, but good in its own right. In all seriousness, it does make a really good, consistent and now understand what I imagined was meant when I read reviews saying it’s smooth, cup of coffee. It’s insanely quick brewing process which is nice. The 1 litre we brew is done in like 3-4 mins. When I started using it I was weighing the grinds to find the right amount and matched that to how long I need to run the grinder. That was mainly for wife as she won’t put in the effort to weigh the grinds as she’s not as dedicated to the craft. I’ll still weigh the grinds if I’m making the coffee since the coffee snob in me has been elevated. I even grew out a handlebar moustache since I’ve purchased.

THE Moccamaster to buy for pretty much everyone
I had an older model Moccamaster for several years which I loved for making 6-10 cups but when I wanted to make one or two cups the taste wasn't up to the same level. My work schedule changed in 2021 and now weekdays I have time for one cup, maybe one and a half. So I wasn' t using my Moccamaster much. Something had to change.I considered the One Cup but that's limitating. Thankfully Technivorm made the Select and now you don't have to choose between small batch performance an full pot performance. The Select does both beautifully by adjusting the water flow according to quantity. My coffee is now great wether I make 2 or 12 cups.If I have a con, it's that the platewarmer is perhaps a little on the hot side. I'll get a thermal carafe and switch the coffee I think at some point. And the glass carafe is only washable by hand and seems a little flimsy to me.Over the past 6-7 years I've tried the Oxo Barista Brain, the Breville Precision and Ninja CM401. They come close (especially the Breville) but nothing quite beats the Moccamaster for coffee taste, simplicity and reliability (there's a reason they're the only ones with a 5 year warranty). It's not gadgety, it's not programmable, it's just a great coffee-making machine. Oh and it looks grea!

Best coffee machine out there
Back story- beloved Krupps coffee maker died after years and years of faithful service. Result- Researched coffee machines like it was my day job, for weeks. Bought a Br**n coffee server contraption and it was junk (husbands choice) and then was almost convinced to purchase a brevi**e precision brewer or whatever it is- at this point I’m familiar with every coffee machine on the market and my algorithm is fairly confused as to what to try to sell me. End result- we (I) decided to pull the trigger, spend good money once and just order the Technivorm. It took a few you tube vids for us to figure out how to get the most out of it and my findings are that this machine makes the best coffee we have ever had. It rivals the Saeco machines our friends have and doesn’t take up much real estate on the counter. We buy small batch roasted, ethical, organic fancy beans and I hate to say it but even the Costco beans can be brewed to offer a decent cup of caffeine with the Moccamaster. There are zero flaws, coffee is hot, shipping was quick to Canada, price was right, and we love our new machine. You can stop searching now and purchase this bad boy- don’t let the partner talk you into anything less- this brewer sets the standard.
