This smoked better than the old Lionel liquid smoke. One drop made smoke rings. Very cool. Smelled like fre wood. Just what I ordered. Everyone Loved the effect and thought it was cool and realistic. Worth every penny

I find that Lionel unscented smoke fluid works well in Lionel diesel or steam locomotives. Just follow the manufacturers instructions for the number of drops to use. Small steam locomotives or accessories may only need 3-4 drops, were larger locomotives may require 20 drops. If smoke output diminishes, it’s time to add additional smoke fluid. If you are not adding additional smoke fluid, flip the switch labeled ‘smoke’ on the engine or accessory to off to prevent damage to the smoke unit.

This really makes the room Christmassy. The O-rings the engine puffs out will make anyone smile. The problem is the mouth of the bottle does not have a pour spout, and the smoke stack on the engine is quite small. It was necessary to open the smoke fluid that came with the train set (very difficult without getting the fluid on your fingers & hand) and then carefully pouring the hot chocolate smoker fluid into the smoke bottle that came with the train set. Maybe an eyedropper would be a solution.

My teenage Son loves this! Great for christmas. Yes, it's a scented oil so young children and pets need to be protected from it because it smells edible (keep it out of their reach is a very smart idea). Yes, it is a little messy. It's not really intended for young children to play with. It makes Lionel Polar Express trains look and smell authentic for the holidays. Some of the other smokes stink in my opinion. I am buying bottle 3 this is my 3rd year buying it. My son is using a bottle a year and he uses it sparingly all year. This year I may buy pepeprmint too. great stocking stuffers for an older train collecting kid ...or a big kid at heart.

Works but virtually impossible to get into small hole on train with no top on the bottle. It just freely pours. No way to control it.
