Journey into the Light: The Three Principles of Man's Awakening

Insightful and Instructive
This book provides a lot of instruction and insight for those seeking spiritual development, but it does it in an unusual way. Rather than writing as a teacher giving instruction, this book is written in the form of a novel in which several students meet a spiritual teacher or master and are giving instruction. Sometimes, the students are asking questions and the master answers them. At other times, the teacher has a specific lesson to teach and invites the students over where they are taught through symbolic artworks, little stages lessons and then verbal explanation and discussion. The author is French and the book is set in France, but the teachings are based primarily on the ancient Egyptian teachings which Isha and her husband R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz studied for many years and both wrote several books on their understanding of these universal truths. By setting the book in modern times, the author helps us to relate to the students, their questions and misunderstandings and the challenge of developing spiritually in a world that is so oriented to the material. I think this is one of the best spiritual books I have read and it deserves to be a classic of the genre.

followed by a good part of the last 10 years studying Gurdjieff
If you want my opinion...all you need to read is this book. My opinion comes after having read many books about the occult...followed by a good part of the last 10 years studying Gurdjieff. So, I cannot be positive in regards to how an other person will interpret this book. I do think that if I had read it back in 2000 or earlier, it would not have had the same impact. I still highly recommend this book.

A story for a seeker
A very interesting story where one of the characters which is a scientist discovers his intuitive side but do not want to accept it. The other characters will help him in this journey so he can accept his true nature. This character can be anyone of us in our society where science is overpowered and nothing is true if it has not been proven by science. This book helps the seeker to make some steps in the way with the example of the main character of this book.

Does not deliver on the ideas presented
Having read this Egypt series by: R.A., Lucie Lamy, Isha, etc. I can say these books suffer from the same thing: they promise the world but fail to deliver. There is much complex language, flowery in instances, reminiscent of Theosophy, White Brotherhood, etc. Much use of "realms, wisdom, way of the heart, mysteries, etc. The reader cannot really fathom where they are in relation to the terms described, after all isn't that why you read such books, to figure out where you are in spiritual development and how far you have to go? Personally I am familiar with various states of consciousness via Upanishads, Vedanta, Christian Mystics, etc and they all for the most part do not deliver on the ideas they put forward. One last weakness is that they are not well written, once in a while there is something interesting which is promptly lost by delving into jargon and hyperbole. The narrative is too long, taking pages to say what could be said in a paragraph. Overall not that useful.
