Q: Does the crossbar cast a shadow when this is used to diffuse direct sunlight?

In direct sunlight you won’t see the crossbar at all, that’s a lot of light coverage. No worries!

Q: Can you shoot thru it?

Yes! And you can get pretty creative with the light output and direction! Happy shooting!

Q: What is the light reduction of the scrim? Other scrims I've seen rate the number of stops of light the scrim introduces--e.g., 1/4 stop, 1 stop, etc.

This light reduction is what it is and that wasn't a concern of mine. The scrim has excellent reflective properties and I use it frequently, both sides depending upon the effect I need. I've very pleased with it.

Q: When using as overhead diffuser, does the cross bar cast a shadow on the subject?

I’ve shot hard light directly into the center and haven’t run into any issues with the cross bar casting a shadow. The area is large enough to where it would take very specific lighting setups to see the crossbar.
