I've just stared BJJ and have now been well immersed in the world of Gi purchasing for newbies. Its a bit tricky to try and figure out what size you are and so for context, I am a male - 6'1" tall, I weigh 14.5 Stone and I would describe my physique as fairly toned under a small layer of flab...mostly around the tummy.Ultimately, I chose size A3 and tried a few brands.I didn't like the Tatami Competition Gi so much, so I tried the Progress Academy Gi. When it arrived I was really happy as it did come with the white belt as advertised and the fit is pretty much spot on. I wore it to class unwashed and it was fine and I've just washed it for the first time and I would say that it has shrunk a little bit but no more than expected. The top is quite thick and durable but the trousers are quite light - I like this blend especially in the summer.I think I will see how this holds up over the next few washes and will probably buy another one in a different colour for a bit of variety.In all in all I would recommend this Gi.Update: A few washes in now and the trousers have shrunk in length by a good inch or so which is fine if you like the look (i do). The only think i don't like is how rough the Gi top is, I will try and wash with vinegar to soften it up but it is a bit rough. I have also found the colour from the mats we roll on has rubbed onto the knees of the trousers , not sure if that will come out... I have since tried a Tatami the Original gi which is also nice - the perfect Gi for me would be the Tatami top and the Progress bottoms!Update 2: all the mat stains came out no problem. The top is still pretty rough though. In retrospect I still think the gi is good but compared to some recent Tatami offers though (£39 for the ‘original’ gi) it now seems expensive which might be unfair but the Tatami gi’s also have more appointments like nice embroidery and patches etc. I would buy another Progress Academy gi because I like the trousers, but only if they were on offer.

Xmas present for my husband, his choice. All good, lighter weight than his current ones. Full length. It just looks easier to move around in than other thicker brands.

Best Gi I've ever worn! Can't believe how lightweight it is compared to other ones I've used, yet it's still super strong!

Worn only about 10 times yet a rip has appeared on my right sleeve, so unfortunately can no longer use. Was really happy with the product before but no am unable to use it :(

Nice Gi, came with a carry bag. Sadly the white belt was missing. Had to purchase separate which makes the cost above what I would have liked to have paid.

Light and Durable will be purchasing another

The media could not be loaded.  The quality of this Gi is very exceptional as it holds up fine in Combatives class! It is very comparable in weight and fit as more expensive ones! Do be aware a lot of schools expect the student to wear a more official brand and logo uniform so this may not work out!

Ich habe A2 bestellt. Die Hose passt erwartungsgemäß, jedoch fällt die Jacke sehr groß aus. Ich hoffe, dass sie sich noch kleiner waschen lässt

Gi looks great and fits well. Really great for the price. Pants are pretty light and comfortable. 4 months of use and no tears or problems or major shrinkage. love the simple design and subtle branding.
