Saves me about $300/month in storage fees! Love it
Things I do to save a $. The least expensive trailerable dry storage for boats isn't long enough to allow my 34' boat/trailer to fit inside. I initially tried shortening the tongue by 3' and it worked, but it also will increase your tongue weight as well as less reach when launching your boat. This product doesn't cost much and is very easy to install if your the least bit handy with tools.I have a 26' off-shore boat with twin outboards. I shaved off 2.5' of the tongue and mending it back together with this fold away hinge. I used a saw-zall, drill in addition to the hardware supplied. It maybe took me about 2-3 hours to install. After 300 miles of testing it seems to work well. there is a slight sag or bend at the hinge that makes me nervous, but no problems yet. Although, it has dropped the height of the tongue by 2-3"'s. So, prepare to raise your hitch height to maintain a level trailer height front to back.It can also act as another theft deterrent if you store your hinge pin away from the trailer :^)I will add before and after pictures soon

Poor packaging - Installation tools missing. Otherwise excellent
This shipped in a cardboard box with no padding, and the box arrived damaged, with a small hole, no doubt caused by the hinge itself moving within the box. The kit includes a transfer punch for aligning holes you'll drill into the trailer, and a T55 Torx bit for use with the specialized bolts. Those were missing. I bought the bit locally and did the installation. Apart from that the installation went smoothly, and I think it's going to work great, but the poor packaging added a significant headache and additional expense, hence the reduced rating.I contacted the seller and described the problem with the missing items, lost due to the hitch being loose in the box and punching a hole in it. They responded quickly, and after a little back and forth it's clear want to make it right. I hope the packaging will be improved to prevent that in the future. Just putting the small items in a bag would decrease the odds of that happening, or adding some wadded paper to prevent the hinge from moving freely in the box. Also be advised: The instructions say to drill new holes in the trailer behind the hinge, and mount the safety chains there, so the chains would keep the trailer attached if anything from the hitch through the hinge failed. That makes sense, but it will generally mean moving them back from their original position on the tongue, so expect to spend a little more on the installation. It's going to require longer chains than the original, and additional bolts, washers, lock washers and nuts to bolt them in place. In my case I kept the original safety chains where they were, then added a second pair of safety chains bolted to the tongue surrounding the hinge, so if the hinge ever failed they would keep the trailer coupled to the tongue.

Solid
Put it on the trailer for my older(read: heavy) bass boat trailer. Allows me to fit it in the garage with ease. I've had it on the trailer now for about 8 months, have pulled it hunders of miles, and stored it many times without issue.I did decide to add some backup chains between the end of the tongue and the trailer. They made me feel better at the time, but I don't really think they're necessary at this point.Solid product, no complaints.

Important parts not included.
Important to note that this is NOT the Fulton Hinge Kit as described in Fulton's video on their website. The very important center-punch and T55 bit are NOT INCLUDED. This is apparently a lower cost version for shops that already have the punch that centers the drill exactly, and a T55 bit that even Lowe's doesn't carry. So what would have been an easy and quick install was significantly delayed for want of a few bucks worth of parts.Buyer beware! I'm guessing some of the other, more expensive, listings on Amazon might have the parts needed.

Beyond this the product is great.
Purchased the 3" x 4" , however the hole locations and the nuts were to close to the inside wall of the boat trailer. Had to purchase additional mounting hardware at Ace to work around the design issue. the holes needed to be 1/4 inch closer to the center of the hinge. Our work around made the system work. Beyond this the product is great.

Did the job
I received this without the bolt kit. I emailed the company and they sent one out right away. Works great. Attention boat owners: If you're building a garage for your boat, measure the length of the boat on the trailer with the motor! It got me a nice profitable job but embarrassed the owner.

Quality product, know many who already owned and installed with great results
Great product, excellent quality. Easy to install with clear instructions. Bought it from Hitch Direct on Amazon and received top notch service from them. Communication was a 10/10 from the company. Now I can finally park my boat in the garage. This is not some cheap add on that will later break. Friends have owned these for years and love them.
