Solid, Beautiful, Worth it.
I received my Buck Duke today and boy let me tell you I couldn't wait to get it. When I got it out of the box I darn near shed a tear. Not because it was broken or had scratches or scars. It was because of how beautiful this knife is. Its almost to the point where its going to be hard for me to want to carry and use it, ha ha. Really though, she is a beauty, and it just goes to show that Buck craftsmanship and design are truly a timeless classic and worth it. It is a drop point blade of 3 inches in length. Has that 420HC steel that is a Buck standard (knife snobs go cry elsewhere, 420 HC is a good steel when done right) and of good grade and quality. It reminds me of a drop point 112 Ranger with a set of nickel silver bolsters and a different handle. As far as weight is concerned, it isn't exactly a "featherweight" class fighter as far as knives go. However, its that weight that gives it a positive feel in the hand. It weighs the same as a Buck 112, maybe slightly lighter. The product info has exact specs. The size of the handle is great, and for someone that has hands referred to as "bear paws" due to their size, I have no trouble getting a positive grip on it. It is slightly longer than a 112, and slightly shorter than a 110 on handle length. The knife itself has a slight bit of side to side play in it. I do mean ever so slight, but anyone that has had many a lock back knife will tell you that sometimes that is what you get. For what it is worth the VAST majority of my Buck lock backs are solid, but I do have a few that have the play. Just part of it. Will it keep me from enjoying the heck out of this knife? Absolutely not. I would be a madman to put it in a safe and protect it and not use it.....however that is what I am tempted to do since its so awesome. Comes with the traditional Buck black leather sheath made to fit this knife. On the back the sheath has the model number printed on it so if you are like me with quite a few Buck lock backs (much to the leer/glare of my wife) then you wont have a hard time getting the right sheath.

Buck quality you've come to expect.
I received my Buck Duke 500 yesterday. My understanding is that this model is not always available from Buck, so I was happy to find one through Amazon Prime at a substantial savings over the Buck store or other retailers. It came in OEM Buck packaging with the usual Buck warranty card, the knife, sheath, etc.The knife itself is exactly as expected - typical Buck quality, well finished, locks up firmly and with a workable sharp but not "scary sharp" factory edge. One thing is peculiar however - that one scale is noticeably lighter in color that the other. Almost like it's a different wood. This doesn't bother me however, and to my eye just gives it more "natural wood" / handmade cred.If I had to pick at something however, it would be that my example came packaged about halfway into the open sheath, and I think one of the bolsters lined up right with the inside of the snap inside resulting in some light scratching. (see pics). Again, this doesn't bother me as it will surely get more scratching in use, but for a collector wanting an example to put in a display case or preserve this would be a consideration. Other Buck knives I've picked up were usually wrapped in foam-wrap and the sheath separate. The sheath is just like any other from Buck the last few years - thick, stiff leather and Hecho en Mexico. Fits a standard 1.5 belt, so tool & kilt belt wearers will need to modify or find an alternative. And since it appears some purchasers cannot read or comprehend the size.. it's a touch smaller than the 110 Hunter but larger than the 501 Squire. Fits in your pocket just fine, but due to the weight you probably wouldn't want much else in the same pocket. Everyone's different though.Buck guarantees their products for life, so you can always buy with confidence. Their classic folding locking knives are heirloom quality pieces, and made in the USA.besides, it's hard to go wrong with any American product that has a number in the name - WD-40, Hoppe's #9, Old Tennessee No 7, a P38... Buck #500. See how well that works?EDIT - I've added another photo showing a size comparison with various other model Buck knives. This should give people another visual gauge to the Duke's size.

American Classic that everyone should own!
I hope this review helps for anyone thinking about purchasing this knife. I've been a been knife collector my whole life, my dad gave me an old buck folder similar to this when I was a small tike in the scouts. Ever since then I fell in love. Well this was my first buck folder purchased as an adult, and I have to say, right out of the box I was blown away. Sharp as a razor, great feel and solid construction, cool part about this model is they apparently are harder to come by than most other bucks. Great weight and good fit in the hand for a man with my size hands (6'2'' 200 Lbs), no play in the blade what so ever and I immediately put it to use. Whatever I use it for in my day to day activity it holds up against. Great all around knife for camping, fishing, or even light duty office use. A lot of people complained about the button snap holster that came with it, while made in Mexico unlike its knife counterpart (100% USA made) it is of great quality. Best part about this knife it comes with an absolute lifetime guarantee, honored by buck even though bought from a third party retailer such as Amazon. Again, this is a great knife that every American man or boy should own. 100% recommended, I will be purchasing many more buck knives for time to come and can't wait to use them all to their full potential.

Great knife!
I love this knife! Came sharp, folds nice, and a great price. Would give 5 stars if sheath was made in the U.S.
