Simpler is often better, and simply put this is one of the most versatile packs ever created. If you prefer going light and moving fast in the woods, mountains and around town, the Talon 22 is the pack for you. 22L of capacity is perfect for day hikes, urban commutes or a trip to the market. Ventilated and comfortable, the BioStretch harness and continuous wrap hipbelt combine to create an incredibly stable carry system that hugs your body so you can stay balanced on the trail, ridge or peak. We scratched our heads and updated our AirScape backpanel to use less material and glue while making it more breathable to keep you cool on hot days. When uphills turn technical, our Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole carry system keeps your hands free for upward movement. LidLock helmet carry achieves the same when you stop for a mid-commute coffee. Zippered hipbelts, side stretch mesh pockets, a harness pocket, and top-lid storage provide all the organization you need. Review: Slightly revised version of a great classic. - This review is for the 2017 Spring Green model of the Talon 22. The Spring Green color is extremely bright. It actually appears like a neon green/neon yellow color that I would definitely consider "hi-viz". The Talon 22 has always been a comfortable daypack made versatile because of its volume (not too big, not too small), hydration pack compatibility, and the ability to adjust the torso length. I'm 165lbs and 6ft tall and and it fits me perfectly. And there's still plenty of adjustement left to make it fit taller and shorter people. This is absolutely my backpack of choice for day hikes and mountain biking. This is a newer (2017) and slightly updated design to the Talon daypack. I use to use the older 2015 version of this daypack and some of the differences I've noticed include.... 1. The large stretchy external pouch seems to be made of a sturdier (slightly less stretchy) fabric in the 2017 version. This is an improvement for me. The drawback is that this pocket is smaller than it was on the 2015 version. 2. The stretchy straps that secure the hydration hose to the arm straps are now basically thick rubber bands in the 2017 version. They function well and I'm hoping they're just as durable as the stretchy fabric straps that were used in the 2015 version. 3. The cord that functions with the "lidlock" now comes to an end inside the daypack. If I ever want to tighten down the lidlock, I have to unzip the bag and tighten the cord from the inside. 4. The waist belt pockets now have a stretchy material on the top portion of the pocket and the bottom half is nylon. In my 2015 version, the bottom half was stretchy and the top half was nylon. 5. The back panel uses a different pattern of foam. Overall, I feel as though this is a sturdier update to the Talon 22. My older Talon would snag easily on tree branches and the external stretch pouch had plenty of little snags in the fabric to prove it. I feel like this new stretchy material Osprey has used will hold up a little better. Review: Excellent Backpack for a lot of situations - This is the perfect all around bag. I am using it as a diaper/disneyland bag, a day hiking bag, and also as a traveling bag. Why I like this bag... 1. It's simplicity. I like a bag that has many features, but looks simple and not overcomplicated with a so many compartments. This bag has one big main compartment for everything. Inside the main compartment is a small zippered mesh pouch for loose items. Back outside, there's a small zippered compartment at the top. This one is much bigger and it's lined with a soft material. I can fit an iPad mini 4 in there with ease. On the sides of the pack are two mesh pockets and two zipper pouches on the hip belt. What I really like is the front of the bag has a large mesh pocket. I can squeeze a jacket in there or baby wipes for ease of access. Along the back is a padded panel for a water pack. It easily fits my 13" MacBook Pro, but I don't carry my laptop around anymore. 2. It's weight. This bag is really light. I think it's a little bit over a pound. If you're like me and can't decide on the color and sizes. Here's my perspectives. Size - Instead of worrying about torso size, just go with M/L if you want a 22L bag or S/M if you want a 20L bag. Color - I couldn't decide and purchased both Martian Red and Black. I ended up keeping the Martian Red. The red is really bright. It doesn't look dull like in the picture. I think the Ultramarine Blue and Spring Green will be just a bright as well. The bag looks uniformed with red all around. The black is instead more grey than black. Think of the Raiders color. The black looks two tone. The bottom and side going up is dark black, while the mesh side pockets and front pocket is grey. The rest is a honeycomb fabric that is light black and changes depending on the light. The supporting gel structure on the back is an orange brown.

worth every penny and then some, a looker too ! ::)
I am not the one to write an review unless i have really tested this product, but this backpack is an exception built quality 6 strars look : 7 stars, looks like it would take a beating and the red is perfect, bright red, but not cherry (kinda girly) red lightweight : i measured it, it weighs 1.8 lbs, but it feels like .8 lbs comfort: 7 stars i put it on with 7 lbs of weight (+1.8lbs the bag), it felt like i was carrying noth, ing bonus : on the main compartment there is also a zippered (small, but that is purpose) compartment (its made of soft net, can easy fit a few things, including a large screen phone, and because it is net material, you can see what is there) only thing i have not figured out is why the companies (from what i have seen) make the hip belt so small (deptth and height), but that is the smallest of shortcomings extra bonus: there is a top handle, that is well made and looks like it can easily support carrying the bag extra extra bonus: there a "loopy" thing, that i am not sure what it does, but for those who trek/mountain climb, can find a use for it (i thing it is for the trekking poles, but it is so well made and adjustable one can find many uses its been a while since i bought something that was so well made, and though pricy, a good value as well

I often hike 10-20 miles and I want to be comfortable. The bag has great functionality including hip pockets
This is my new day pack for hiking. Of coarse I did too much research because I obsess over my gear, I’m very picky. I wanted quality but not too heavy, and ventilation is big for me. I often hike 10-20 miles and I want to be comfortable. The bag has great functionality including hip pockets, hiking pole straps, and straps for various clip on items. Ventilation is great, the back webbing helps negate a lot of moisture ( but not all) and the shoulder straps have great ventilation too. The bag is very comfortable and you can even adjust the size on th back and hips which is a big plus on getting that personal fit. As far as space goes it has a lot of room. I don’t carry a lot in th summer: lunch, maybe a jacket, small first aid. But in the winter the extra clothes will fit easily. Great bag, it’s my third osprey bag and although there not ultra light I like what you get for the weight.

Fantastic daypack but bad zipper design on my pack.
I used this pack for a week in the Lost Creek Wilderness in Colorado. I am 6'2" 245 lbs with a very long torso. This pack fit me perfectly and sat on my hips in the exact position I wanted it to. There was no nerve pinching in my shoulders due to packs usually being too small for me. The only issue I had was the zipper getting stuck on the first pass through opening and closing. Also, the seam came apart or was already apart on the top portion of the pack. I am returning for the exact same pack. It is that good. I am hoping I simply received a defective pack.

Solid, Good-looking, Dependable, Confortable
This is my second Osprey pack like this. The previous one provided an enormous amount of comfortable use and lasted about 10 years, with regular use. The design is extremely well thought out, with plenty of pockets, ties, attachments etc. Great for day hiking or just travel use. Excellent, strong and supple materials. Very comfortable. After many years of heavy use the pack loses some waterproof function in the rare downpour, which is totally understandable, and this is remedied by a simple pack cover. Do not put pointy objects in the netting pockets since they can tear--this is common sense but bears mention. So pleased with this excellent product by an excellent company.

Why did I wait so long?!?
Osprey has been recommended to me by many of my friends and fellow hikers over the years. But my old pack was OK and I didn't feel like buying 'Up' at Osprey's price point. But that old non-Osprey pack finally died (and at a critical time on a ten mile hike; I wasn't too upset. It had given me about ten years of good service). After some consultation with people more knowledgeable than myself, I decided to replace it with the Osprey Talon 22 (I bought the S-M since I am am 5'9 and 150 lbs.). Note, the S-M Talon 22 is not 22 liters but 20. The M-L Talon 22 is actually the full 22 liters of space. First of all, what struck me when I pulled it out of the box was the weight: my old Name Brand pack (remember those old commercials? ) was easily 3 times heavier while empty. The Talon 22 is light. I'm told its not the lightest pack out there but I am satisfied with it. I'm not an ultra-light hiker and this one is just right. Second, the fit was amazing (with the ability to customize the fit). With total freedom of movement. It is very well designed. It is also very, very comfortable. My first hike with the Talon 22, I packed 15 pounds of Stuff (including the 6.5 pounds of water in the Platypus hydration bag). Very, very comfortable. Very easy to climb and scramble over rocks with this pack. Third, its sleek and compact but able to hold a 3.0 liter hydration bag (mine is the Platypus, mentioned above. Mini-Review, with in a review: It doesn't taste like rubber like that other Name Brand!). And while I am not a novice hiker, I am no master. I was still using water bottles up until a year ago. But water bottles take up so much space. I have more space although my Talon is only a 20 liter pack compared to my old Name Brand pack that was 25 liters. I have now taken the Talon 22 on two hikes in one week: One 6 mile hike and one 19.5 mile hike. It was fantastic for both of them. I have talked with hikers who half fill the hydration bladder with water and the rest with ice cubes on hikes where they don't need the full 3 liters. This sounds like 'Genius!' to me and I can't wait to try that out. It also has a lot of little details like a place to easily store trekking poles, if trekking poles are "Your Thing". Some little pockets, like one suitable for a small mag-lite, on the backpack strap. Its also got a built in whistle on the chest strap. All that being said, no pack is perfect. But since no pack could be made that functioned in every scenario or mission, we shouldn't expect that. That won't stop Internet Wags and the entitled Veruca Salt Generation but all grown-ups know this already. This is not the pack for long, Through Hiking or overnights. Unless you are a major survivalist, ultra-light, SF operator or Crocodile Dundee. It's only 20-22 liters, depending on the size you buy. You can't carry everything like stoves and pots and solar panels and sat-phone dishes and machetes and rocket launchers. For us mere mortals, I can't imagine a better designed lightweight day-pack. And as good old Saint Han says, "I can imagine quite a bit."

The Lightest Pack Out There
I bought this bag because I wanted a lighter bag than I previously had and one that was more comfortable, too. My old bag was the 2015 version of the CamelBak Fourteener. It was a solid bag that did it’s job for four or so years, but I just needed an upgrade. If you are more of a minimalist hiker like I am, look no further than the Osprey Talon 22. It is super lightweight, has all the storage space I need, and is very comfortable. The shoulder straps are way thinner than my previous bag, but so much more comfortable, which speaks to the quality and efficiency of this bag. The only nitpick I have for this bag is that I wish there were more internal pockets for organizational purposes.

Lightweight, strong and comfortable rucksack.
This is a great little rucksack and I use it all the time. Perfect size for skiing or day trekking and lots of gizmo's and thoughtful additions. The thing that impressed me the most about this bit of kit was the company that sold it.. massive shout out to the Epicentre in Ambleside! Wonderful customer service and when Parcel Farce screwed up delivery they next day couriered a replacement so I had it for go abroad with.. thanks guys :-)

Fantastic bag, as usual from Osprey
Fantastic bag, as usual from Osprey. I use it for active weekends as well as day to day, cycling round town. Distributes weight intelligently so that it feels lighter. Excellent build quality and choice of materials. The one (minor) apparent design fault is that the lip on the main compartment tends to get stuck when closing the zip.

Sac OSPREY Talon 22 l Yerba Green (homme)

Very compact yet large enough pack for a couple of days.
On the expensive side and would have been better with a hydration bladder. However, is a superb backpack with enough add ons for keeping most things!
