Scarpa Men's Kailash Trek GTX Hiking Boot

Comfortable out of the box. No break-in needed. Completely waterproof. Put in 15 miles of off trail hiking on first use and they were amazing on every surface: dust, hard pack, scree, and pine cone covered forest floor, side hilling, everything. Will never need another uninsulated boot.

Really nice quality boot that I've taken out for a few break-in hikes already. Some things I've noticed:> Exterior is pretty rugged. I love the full protection on the toe kick which is great for rock scrambles so you don't end up getting the front of your boots mauled. Though the "suede-like" sides can and will get scuffed, it still seems as if it will hold up well.> Comfortable fit. The boots provide pretty good support for my weak ankles without being overly rigid. There's definitely give but you can tie the laces a bit tighter for added support if you need it for particularly rugged trails that might otherwise result in an ankle twist.> Insoles are pretty hard. This isn't a game changer for me but I will probably end up adding a Dr Scholl's insert to compensate and make it a bit more comfortable for longer hikes.> Grippy: The soles are pretty good. I did a rock scramble and they held the rocks well. There is a bit of an angle to the sole of the boot just under the balls of your feet as if there's a tiny ridge there that causes you to rock slightly forward toward the end of a step. I hadn't experienced this in other boots I owned so not sure how common it is and it didn't really impact me too much but wanted to mention it in case others were aware and appreciate this feature in a boot.
