Q: What do the collar units do when they're low on battery? Some collars will beep when they need to be charged, which confuses the dog.

You have to always leave the collar on and just charge it a little more often because this dumb collar makes a super loud pitch turning on and off, both make her not want to wear the collar. I mostly use just vibrate and save vibrate plus pitch for something extreme which hasn't happened. But no lock feature so she knows how the collar sounds.

Q: Is the range adjustable? Like, can I make it so the collar would go off if my dog goes over 30 ft?

This collar is wonderful for my dog. She is 140 lbs, and has select hearing, you have to push the beep or vibrate buttons. She thinks big foot is after her when I hit the button. Love this device. Hope this helps

No, if you don't need to use the collar for the time being, then please switch the button to turn off the remote control, if you are worried about triggering by mistake, you can use the lanyard to hang the remote control around your neck or fix it on your wrist.
