Turn the water off from the cold water supply. Empty the contents of the holding container by pressing the lever to the open locked position. The water will drain out of the tank into the sink; this will take a bit of time. Once the water flow has stopped, first remove the pre-filter. The crimp ends push in--do this then, pull out the tubes. Replace with the new pre-filter, making sure to have the proper direction of the flow (the pre-filter is marked accordingly). Once again, you press in (toward the pre-filter cartridge) and push in the tubing, then release the crimp end. Now you can replace the the cylinder which attaches to the tank. Release the clamps holding it together, pull the cylinder toward you, and replace with the new cylinder. It has connection points at top and bottom of the cylinder, so I found it easier to pull it out from the center. Once the new cylinder is in place, re-clamp the housing around the cylinder to the tank. Turn the water back on and check for leaks. You will need the tank to fill, and then drain it again--Twice. (This removes any debris from the charcoal pre-filter.) Hopefully this has been helpful.

I BUY THE ORIGINAL NIMBUS WATERMAKER FIVE FILTERS. I DON'T BUY OFF BRANDS. I DID ONCE AND THE CONNECTIONS WERE NOT THE SAME. I WILLNEVER BUY OFF BRAND AGAIN.

Q: Are these made by nimbus? if not, who does? and how do i gauge quality?

They had the same logos and graphics that the originals had. To me this doesn't imply Nimbus made them with their own employees, but they fit in with the system exactly as the originals. The water tested fine.

Perfect replacement

There really isn't much to say. This is a direct replacement for the original. The push fit connections suck as bad on this as they do on everything else out there. But that's the style everyone uses so you are stuck with them.Installation is easy just a small amount of grease on the o'rings and follow the instructions.

Used in my Pelican (Pentair) Reverse Osmosis System

I have replaced the desalination filter 5 times since purchasing the Pelican Reverse Osmosis filter system with no problems or leaks, but could not find them online anymore. So I bought this based on previous reviews. I was skeptical, but in the end (after a few leaky attempts), this seems to be working just fine. Don’t know where I will go in 18 months though.
