With its slim, feminine profile and grippy rubber sole, this skimmer is a summery splash. In 1916, the Keds brand was introduced by the U.S. Rubber Company as the first national athletic and lifestyle footwear brand. At this time, the shoes were called sneakers, a term invented in late 1916 by Keds advertising agency because the rubber soles made the shoes quiet. Worn by Olympic soccer players, scores of National and International tennis champions, and many college athletes, Keds was coined the shoe of champions because of its reputation as America's premier athletic brand. Not only was Keds a leading athletic brand, it was also the brand of choice for leading style icons due to its classic, stylish, and authentic characteristics.

Update: Cute and versatile loom but rough interior seams are a blister maker.
Updated Review:Sadly, I have to recant my previous review. While I really want to like these cute shoes, in practically, even with mole skin placed over the rough seems (see below/previous review), the shoes create painful blisters. This might be okay if worn with socks (and thicker ones at that) but style and with my intended wear, well socks are not the look I was going for. Fyi: If you intend to try with socks, I would encourage up sizing.Anyway, really disappointed and due to interior design and seam friction, downgrading to one star - still a cute shoe with a versatile look but pain level/blister making design make it a no go for me. Will return.*************Previous review:I bought these shoes with ano upcoming cruise in mind. It is a more casual cruise and with trying to keep packing down to a minimum, I thought these cute shoes would be perfect double duty, both for daytime use and in black, could pass as a compliment to my dinner outfits. The cuteness factor did not disappointment; however, the inside material at about bow level at the joining seams is unpleasantly rough. As well, the heel seam is also chaffs. Both are definite blister makers and hurt.Happily, I could soften the hurt using both mole skin on the inside of the show covering the rough spots and also used adhesive heel pads to alleviate the heel problem.By virtue that I had to doctor this really cute and versatile in black pair of shoes, I can only give them three stars. They will do the job in a stylish and versatile way but comfort required the padding modifications and as a customer, I would have appreciated more care in design. Also, I purchased my pair for $25.00 and at the current price of $50.00, I would not have purchased them. Particularly at that price with the seam chaffing problem.I genuinely hope the seller pays attention to concerns like mine because, while quality and cost matter, the product should not have to be modified to be worn comfortably....the rough spots really hurt without the padding but once added, are better. But the way, I normally wear a 9-9 1/2 and as I planned to wear these sockless for the cruise and summer, I ordered a size 9 which, once the blister and ow prevention padding was added, works well.

Keep Looking!
The Good News: These shoes are cute and the length and width are true-to-size. The Very Bad News: As others have already written, they are NOT comfortable AT ALL! I was so excited to wear these shoes, because they matched my outfit. I slipped them on and headed out the door. About an hour later, I started to feel pain on my heels, from the shoes rubbing against them as I walked. I complained to a friend, who immediately suggested that I put Bandaid bandages on both heels, which did help. Then I noticed some discomfort on the top of my foot, coming from a poorly constructed seam on the inside of the shoes. I may have to put a Bandaid on that too; especially if I choose to wear them again. In summary, if you are good with the possibility of putting bandages on your feet to make the shoes wearable, then make the purchase....otherwise, you may want to keep looking..

This shoe is for people with slim feet
I love this and have it in several colors its so well made and very durable. I find it a true to size in my 7.5. I usually run between sizes 7.5 and 8, so got both, and the 7.5 worked for me. Keep in mind, I have slim feet, it was slightly snug at first and molded to my foot in a few days. It is cushioned a little and I find that substantial since this is not a running shoe. I love the slim profile, its so feminine and ideal to wear with summer dresses and skirts. I highly recommend this as a staple for a summer ward robe.

Medieval torture devices
I first saw these shoes on someone who works in the building next to me. I had been looking for something exactly like them...chic and stylish while still having that laid back feel. So naturally I did a little searching around the internet and finally found them. Almost every website I found was sold out of the color/size I needed, so I was delighted to finally find that amazon had 2 pairs left in my size. I immediately bought them and waited in anticipation of when they would arrive so I could finally show off my awesome new shoes. When the shoes arrived I tried them on and everything seemed to fit well. Not too big, not too small. Several laps around my apartment confirmed this. Making the decision to wear them to work that day with my perfectly coordinated outfit was a great idea I assured myself.I slipped the shoes on and decided to head out for a quick 15 minute walk with the dog before heading off to work for the day. It took all of 5 mins into the walk before I began to realize that these shoes are soooo poorly made. Its basically canvas sewn together (which is fine, whatever, its not like I didn't read the description and was expecting leather or something), but the pieces that comprise the shoe are sewn together in such a way as to maximize the raw edges that rub and scratch at your feet. I made a mental note to buy some discreet socks or shoe liners for future use hoping this might solve the problem, and continued with the walk.Several minutes passed and it became apparent that conditions were deteriorating fast. I was trying (and failing) miserably to make my footsteps as gentle and careful as possible to not rub the top layer of my skin off. I briefly considered walking barefoot the rest of the way home. But goddamnit I am educated and independent woman. So I stopped and readjusted my feet in the shoes pushing them further towards the front to avoid what was now the added sensation of raw hard canvas rubbing at the backs of my heels rapidly creating blisters. Several steps further confirmed this was not a viable strategy.10 minutes into the walk and I had given up all hope these shoes would ever become a part of my wardrobe. At this point I am just trying to make it home without having to admit defeat and walk home barefoot. So as a last ditch effort to stem the pain being inflicted upon my feet by these medieval torture devices I fold the heel of each shoe down to prevent further damage to my heels. This however, served to further elevate the rest of my foot and place it in further contact with the top raw canvas edges that comprise the top of the shoe. I mean who would have thought that Keds finally mastered the correct combination of shoddy sewing and poorly chosen material to mimic the sensation of having your feet gnawed at by a rabid badger? Finally I am in the home stretch to my apartment. Pain like you wouldn't imagine, but I am almost there. Almost free of these horrible things someone has allowed to be classified as shoes. At last I reach home. I launch myself through the door and celebrate by kicking the shoes off with such force that the sound generated by them hitting the opposite wall of my apartment scared my dog into thinking I might murder it.I had blisters that had been rubbed raw on both heels, and a shiny red mark on the top of either foot from the horribly abrasive fabric on the tops of the shoes. Only just now, 1 week later as I write this are the blisters on the backs of my heels starting to disappear.Would not recommend. Unless you need a cheap weapon of torture or want to make someone cry. In fact heres my recommendation; Got an friend or female relative that you hate? Just wait until Christmas which is right around the corner and purchase a pair of these babies.

hurts
Seams on inside hit wrong place on foot, had to put bandaids there to protect myself. Love this style of shoe and there are not many that make it..so very unhappy that it hurts to wear.
