You need to have your expectations right about this machine. It is by no means a room heater (not that it claims to be). A desktop heater, yes, if you sit no more than about 10 inches away from it (at the low heat, maybe 12 at the higher heat). It is by no means whisper quiet even at the low heat, but it isn't so noisy than I've had to turn up the tv exceptionally loudly or shout to make myself heard (though not sure about Zoom calls on your computer as the heater would be close to you). It has the on and heat selectors at the top, and it relies on being put on a firm surface to keep a button on the base pressed in to keep the heater on - so if it's lifted up or knocked 'off balance', it stops immediately. The one thing I've found is that the lead is so thick and heavy, the 'folds' it has in it from packing are actually dictating how I can position the heater: the heater is so lightweight in comparison I can't quite get it to stay at the exact angle I want. I don't know if this would change once the lead has been unpacked for a while - or you could perhaps place a small blob of blu-tac or something similar at its side to act as a 'counterweight', the sides of the heater itself don't get hot - but you do need to have the heater close and directly facing you to get the full benefit of the heat. Can't comment about its energy efficiency or cost of running, I'm afraid, as I've only just received it, but if you're working from home, only want to heat yourself quickly, and don't want the fuss of hot water bottles or there's only so many layers you want to put on, it will give you an instant heat. It's a compact little cube shape- just about 4 inches square - so would fit on a desk nicely. As always with these things, you've got to allow space around it, and in case you're wondering, the instructions say there's no using it with any program/timer with an automatic power supply. It's not going to be my main home heater, but to get warm quickly in a small space, it'll do that for you.

I bought this to heat an 8x8 ft summerhouse and it works well. On low setting will heat it by around 10 degrees C in around 10 minutes. Not very noisy and safety cut out works really well. Cable is very thick and stiff as mentioned by another reviewer but not a problem for me as it is being used as a floor standing unit. I have not used it in a larger room but suspect it would be a good additional heat source.

I used it in shed and less then 10 minute increased the temperature with 2 degrees. Small, good space saver and is doing it job.

Great little heater I use on my desk. Looks great, but a timer would be handy. Only complaint is the two heat settings don't really seem to be very different
