I used rubber gloves most of the time but eventually took them off and decided using bare hands worked best. I worked in strokes and tried to work ...
I have heard of this stuff for years but never used it until recently. I used the silver on an ugly light fixture in our master bath. The light fixture is metal and had a brownish, silver finish with a little bit of texture. I lightly sanded the small amount of texture and thoroughly cleaned the fixture. I used a small amount of the silver leaf Rub N Buff and it went a very long way. I used rubber gloves most of the time but eventually took them off and decided using bare hands worked best. I worked in strokes and tried to work a bit quickly as it dried fairly quickly. I would work on a warmer day or in a well heated (not overly hot) room. This is wax based and I noticed it hardened faster the longer I worked on a particular area. I used a small paint brush to brush in the nooks and joints of the fixture, let it sit for about 30 minutes and then used an old cotton towel to buff. It looks so much better and saved us a lot of money replacing a perfectly fine light fixture in bad need of a makeover. I used a the gold leaf on metal framed mirror. It came out well but the silver seemed to cover better. I have enough of both colors to last for several projects. My next project are some old metal lamps and some wooden picture frames.

I Love Rub n Buff!
My parents had a custom picture framing shop and I remember my mom using Rub n Buff on picture frames 45 years ago when I was a child. I love this stuff because it is so easy to use and a little goes a long way. The possibilities are endless on what you can do with it. I like use it to gild things. I use my finger to rub it on the raised edges and it can make things look much more “up scale” I had an old planter that I rubbed it on and it totally changed the look from a boring, blah pot to a pot that pops! I did the same thing with a set of plant stands that just had brown, metal legs and brown, metal grape clusters. I used it to gild the grape clusters and it made such a big difference.

A little goes a long way, I love this stuff
The other reviewers are right when they say "a little goes a long way"! I love this stuff, it is really amazing how many surfaces you can use it on. I have used it on polymer clay as well as wood and resin. If you rub it in and want a higher polish, I recommend sealing it with some kind of wax. I tried to polish the items after applying the Rub 'n Buff, but the polishing attachments tend to just make the metallic finish fade a bit. Use Renaissance wax or some other basic wax to keep it looking fresh. Great product if you are an artist or crafter who doesn't want to be limited to what they can use their supplies on.. This product seems to work on everythin!

Adding sparkle makes anything more special.
I bought an average black frame and added the gold rub and buff to the twist accent. It made all the difference, see the photo close up.

Must have for crafters toolbox
At first, I was a little disappointed in the side of the tube, but holy mackerel does it work! And a little goes a long way. A small dot on a cotton swab or your fingertip (messy) fully covers at least 4 square inches. I used the silver on an art project (pictured with the left antler complete) and it adhered with a acrylic primer. I also used the gold on another project (not pictured) to bring out the texture of a sealed plaster sculpture and it also adhered. It buffs up to a nice shine that is a bit closer to a metallic pastel (in the way I use it) rather than the hyper reflective foil of real gold and silver leaf. So if you are using it to touch up metal, you'll need some sort of shiny seal to match. It arrived early, always a plus. It was packaged nicely with no damage to the product except for some tacky substance on the exterior of the gold (possibly some other art supply leaked on it) but it was perfectly usable.

Easy to use, beautiful results
I bought this product to guild a raised stencil that I placed on a piece of wood furniture. I used a small brush and mast off the stencil and the process was simple. The wax was easy to manipulate, leaving areas have a least a palled in others barely a shadow. Stink Streamley pleased with this product. The price is far more reasonable than the waxes that are being offered by various chalk paint companies.

One of my favorite things!
Rub n Buff gives me life!! I feel like I’ve let the genie out of the bottle! Everything I look at I now see wondering if it would look better with metallic wax! The gold and silver was beautiful over plain black leather, and added the right amount of metallic sheen. It’s so easy to use and the effects are unparalleled

Interesting product but it came out more liquid than described
Not crazy about it being in tubes over all, the gold kept coming out more liquid...with solids blocking the hole...not sure what to do with it to 'mix it' seeing as it is in a tube. Once out of the tube, its not like you can put it back in either.Haven't tried the silver yet, hopefully it will be more of the texture it is supposed to be.Also, didn't realize it was such a tiny container (but that is my fault, I didn't see the third image on the selling page), put a lip balm next to it in photos for comparison. But at least in this case, I got two for one essentially seeing as it was a two pack almost the same price as single colors.I wish they sold bigger tubes to be honest. For what I wanted it for, the size is a let down.Easy enough to use, as long as it stays thick and does not separate.
