Excellent book focused on a group of families and friends in Kuwait. Gives a great sense of place, exploration of the importance of culture and an insight into how sectarianism can impact relationships.

This was such an insightful and beautifully written story. Set across two timelines in modern Kuwait it tells the story of 3 friends who grow up together in a world that increases in sectarianism. I know virtually nothing about Kuwait, so the historical perspective was very interesting, but it is the group of friends who are memorable. Highly recommend.
