Perfect for my space and arrived in flawless condition
I was a bit worried about ordering this desk because of all the reviews showing damage and lack of proper packing. The desk was delivered by Transit By Amazon (as opposed to UPS. I was actually outside when the truck arrived and so was able to open the box and check the corners (which seam to be the most vulnerable parts of the desk. All were perfect and well packed in styrofoam.I got it inside and upstairs... I’m a 57 year old asthmatic overweight mom and I was able to get the desk upstairs by myself... on step at a time. That isn’t to say it is light weight... but it is manageable.I had recently gotten a Stone nd Beam office desk and though the description for that desk said it should only take 15-30 minutes to assemble, it took over 2 hours. By contrast, the Ashley desk was literally about 15 minutes... just attach the logs and it’s ready to go.The Stone and Beam desk is painted white pine and smaller and looks cheaper and legs were already separating. This desk is cheaper, has a keyboard tray, and is much more solidly put together... it looks .ike real furniture as opposed to a cheap desk you got from the unfinished furniture place and spray painted white. The Stone and Beam is the same width (48 inches) but is only 20 inches deep. The Ashley is 29 inches deep which provides a much larger and useful workspace. The Stone and Beam has 2 small lightweight drawers which is useful for stashing pens and pencils... but the Ashley has a keyboard tray for much better ergonomics.I have a very small loft that I’m turning into my home office so I needed a compact work space but also didn’t want a massive solid looking desk that makes the space look cramped. I also wanted something that fits in with the rest of my furniture without looking cheap or disposable. This is perfect. The fact that it is selling for less than the cheapest grade home office desk makes this a no-brainer ... especially since Ashley seems to have improved the packaging to ensure it gets to your house[LCAR]

Stunning, high quality, easy to assemble desk
My new desk arrived about 4 days after I ordered it, even though when I purchased it, the earliest date it said it would be shipped is May 3. As I thought this is a great price for a beautiful desk, I didn't mind. However, the next day it said it was being shipped! The package arrived torn in one corner, but due to how carefully the desk was packaged, nothing was damaged. As other reviewers have noted, it took about 10 minutes to assemble since the keyboard tray was already attached to the desk. The desk is also very heavy, with a beautiful pattern on the top of the desk. The tray even fits a full-size keyboard, mouse, and mouse pad with some room to spare!

Great looking & sturdy, but finish problems
Yes it is a very nice looking table, solid, very classy woodwork on top and legs. Bur sadly the finish is very uneven and has numerous large blemishes where it looks like the varnish or stain did not cover everything evenly. You can see an example of this in the photo of the legs, which is where the problem is. The too is fine, truly excellent, but all four kegs….. not so good. Since it was not just ‘one leg blemish’ which could be excused, but rather is multiple places on all four legs on more than one side, making it impossible to conceal with bad places on all sides. So I am torn on this table, it is a great table and looks really nice, but honestly, with a price tag thus high such a sloppy finish in so many spots knocks it down to something you find in cheaper department store with ho-hum quality. IN a nutshell, it's a Walmart or Target furniture finish on an Ashley Furniture quality wood table. What a shame, it has such potential to pass as high quality furniture….. but fails with the finish on the legs being so much below the finish on the rest of the table above it. And there's no way to fix or hide the leg finish flaws. Pity.

Nice looking, easy to assemble
Ordered two of these desks for my office. The first two arrived damaged, which was no surprise given how poorly they were packaged. Home and Living sent replacements (after initially trying to get away with sending me a touch-up kit...for desks that looked like someone had taken a hammer to the sides and corners) which were packaged more appropriately and were undamaged. The desks look fantastic, though a bit darker than they appear in the picture. Also, because the originals were damaged it was plain that the tops are some sort of pressed wood rather than solid wood; many parts of the desk are solid wood, however. Can't expect too much at this price--I think at this price you're getting a great value for a fine looking desk that is pretty solidly built. Assembly is simple--just attached the legs with two bolts using the enclosed Allen wrench. Takes 5-10 minutes. I would be cautious about trusting the manufacturer's claim that the items are "in stock." For both my initial purchase and the replacements the site claimed to have the desks in stock, but they were in fact back ordered. If you need the desk immediately, you should probably check with Home and Living before pulling the trigger.

Great Quality for the Price!
This desk is well made, sturdy and has some beautiful detailing on the top. Great size. I could not be happier with this purchase. The box did have damage on arrival; but it was so well packaged that the desk itself was in perfect condition. It is made of wood and reinforced with pressboard. The drawer is large enough for a keyboard but you will be hard pressed to fit a mouse pad next to that, but that is okay with me. The color was a bit warmer and richer than I thought from the photos online, but that worked out perfect for me too. I went to a big name furniture store for a desk and they wanted much more for what amounted to cardboard poorly constructed. This desk was more than worth the price when you consider material and craftsmanship compared to what you normally get for the price.
