With the book also having the audio CD which reads to you and also the original music, it is magical! It was beautifully rewritten to a simpler version of the original book and an excellent read-a-long style book. The illustrations were superb and very detailed to follow along with the story! I would highly recommend this to anyone at any age. And, it would be a great book for a teacher to share with students just before Christmas! Very well done! It has become one of my prized books!

This is my favorite version of this story. I grew up listening to the cassette version. Tchaikovsky's score is played underneath the voiceover and it is a great way to introduce children to his work. The illustrations are grand and the author kept in just enough to stay true to the original but condensed for young ears. I'd recommend bringing this out every Christmas as a tradition the whole family can enjoy.

My daughter loved this book. We also listened to the cd while driving. We will put it with our Christmas book collection and read it every year.

I bought 2 nutcracker books but returned this one, not as nice as the other one I picked out

My grandson was thrilled. I will take him to see a live production next Christmas.I have a collection of Nutcrackers and he asked about them. What better way to explain than to give him his own book, then follow up with his first concert?The book was narrated and had music selections as well. Delightful!

I bought this beautiful book for my adult daughter. We had just recently seen the ballet, and although she had years of ballet, she said she didn't know the story. The book comes with a CD. My daughter, who does not read very much, sat with the book, read and listened to the whole thing, loving it every minute. Lovely narration and pictures, would be a treasure for any age. Jane

The item wasn't listed as not including the CD, Kind of a bummer, but the kids loved it! The story was exactly the one I remember as a child. It had the most beautiful illustrations. We take out kids to watch the Nutcracker ballet every year that is put on by Idaho Ballet. I love watching their eyes light up as they hear the story and visualize the play they've seen in real life. It is a great book that enhances the feeling of the season in my family.

A classic story which is brilliant to read to kids, or let them read themselves, at Christmas. The artwork is brilliant and really captures their attention and triggers imagination. Definitely recommend.

This is a book which can be brought out each Christmas for years to come. It is beautifully illustrated and well put together. The story is timeless so it will continue to thrill after our little one has grown.
