There can be few of us who didn't enjoy a Tangram set as children - and they still appeal to all ages with their bright colours and tactile feel. They have to be wooden, of course, for that authentic feel! This set of seven pieces, packed into a colourful box, can (amazingly!) be used to create over 200 patterns - mind games to keep children and adults happily engaged for hours! But if you really need some help, there's a useful leaflet included illustrating the patterns with solutions. The colourful box and comprehensive leaflet make this an ideal gift, and it stores away neatly too. There are many educational benefits from this simple toy - imagination, creative thinking, problem solving and maths (as well as introducing geometry). The Tangram set is made of sustainable wood with environmentally friendly and non-toxic paints; it is really well made and very satisfying to play with.

My 4yr old plays with this 2-3 times a week and has done for the last couple of months. She loves making up her own patterns rather than trying to make the shapes in the booklet. It’s also good to take to cafes to keep her entertained, it’s very portable. The pieces are brightly coloured solid wood and lovely quality. All in all, really good value for money and I think it will have use for some years to come.

This is a good item. Great that it has a cover to keep all the pieces contained. My only issue is that the pictures supplied are much smaller than described and are all on one sheet of paper. The previous reviews and images advertised gave me the impression that they were the same size as the actual shapes supplied so that the child can follow the patterns directly on the paper. I will remedy this by making photocopies and enlarging the images. Nonetheless this is good value for money and my 2 and a half year old loves it. We use it to promote counting, colour recognition, to talk about the different shapes and off course lots of creative fun. Definitely a good buy!

This is a super fun and great game!!! I truly recommend it. I only wish it has more pieces inside and not just the ones you see in the photo. It would give us more options. I play it with my 10yo daughter and we love it

This really engaged both us & grandchildren. Satisfyingly well made. Would be even better if it came in a tin rather than a cardboard box.

I feel bad having to rate this 3 stars so will start with the positives:Comes in a lovely wooden box, always nice to have wooden toys in the house.Seems fairly well made.Unfortunately the reason I've marked this down is that I believed it would come with pattern cards to work from. It does say that there are 12 suggestions, and my son has played with similar items that have a full size pattern that you can put the blocks on top of. This is not the case with this item, it has all 12 suggestions on one piece of card (so not very detailed at all) and obviously not suitable for trying to get a small child to copy.The paperwork I got with the item did ask to get directly in contact with ToWO if at all dissatisfied, which I did, but was basically told 'go tell Amazon' because I no longer had the original packaging (the item had been unpacked and wrapped as a birthday present before realising it wasn't what we had expected).If you don't mind that it's lacking pattern cards, this item is fine. If you want pattern cards, there's a Melissa & Doug version which is more expensive but is all singing, all dancing.

a good challenging game for all the family

The wooden pattern blocks are a fantastic toy, both educational and fun. They come with a sheet of suggested pictures that can be made with the blocks, but my daughter loves making her own patterns most of all. It has certainly helped her develop her understanding of symmetry and pattern. When she does use the suggested pictures I have been impressed with the way this toy helps build tracking and memory skills - the child has to remember what they have already done and where they have got to. The price is very reasonable for what I believe will be a much enjoyed toy for many years (Ok I admit it, I love playing with it too!).
