Great for Detail Work, Need a Set
When I first unpacked it together, the lines were a bit spotty. However, I left it alone for a couple days and I guess the ink has gotten a chance to settle but the lines are smooth and consistent now. This is the Fine pen and though I'm a detail artist, I can't see why you would go smaller. If anything, I need more that are larger too. The variation in line isn't drastic which is good cos it's a fine pen. But I could see having a little set of these being a really nice tool to have. Overall, great for ink artists like me. Thanks!

An excellent alternative to traditional dip pens.
I love dip pens, but I don't like the fragility of nibs and constantly swapping them out. Even worse, the quality of nibs seems to vary wildly and two of the same nibs could have different flaws. The School-G pen is an expensive investment up front but the quality is fantastic. You get the fine, varied lines of a dip pen without the finicky dipping and cleaning.I replaced the disposable cartridge with a refillable cartridge from a $5 fountain pen and use Noodlers titanium black ink. Works perfectly. This pen has completely replaced my $100 Namiki Falcon fountain pen.

extended period review
The refills for this are really really expensive compared to everything else on the market.Pen worked alright though.edit: approx 1 year later; the flow to the tip of the nib is unreliable. i try to keep the nib clean & hydrated, but its constant maintenance, usually to get through approx half a drawing session before a problem arises.i find myself just resorting to my traditional dip pen because it ends up being easier & i feel like im also wasting ink constantly priming the ink feed on this pen.also, i am using the platinum converter as a cartridge because it primes the feed quicker.i also found instead of removing the converter, you get less air in the feed by dipping the nib in your ink, pushing plunger down to extrude ink, then back up to pull new ink in through the nib.i found this to be more effective than hydrating with warm water each time, though water is still required on occasion because the feed crusts over, which is the main flaw with this pen. this is when you waste ink because you need to get rid of the water now on the tip by letting ink flow.

Good ink pen, fun to draw with
This is a solid manga pen with minimal mess and a good firmness to the tip. Feels the same with old-fashioned ink pens while drawing, but a heck lot easier to refill. Mixed feeling about its light-weight and plastic-ness but that's really not a turn-off point for me. I'm glad to have bought the pen.

A tad bit disappointed.
I loved this pen once I got it. It varies line thickness by pressure and has potential to draw some pretty nice pictures. Waterproof ink so it you won't have to worry about smudging, BUT if you have any papers that are smooth and great for sketches and whatnot, stick with technical pens. I was disappointed when my $10 sketch pad kept smudging my drawings because the ink would stay down. It works on computer paper or paper that absorbs ink well. Takes a while to learn too.Well my pen now just broke. No reason too. Probably because of "improper care." I like to take my pens to school and mess around with them in class, but one day the cap just came off and something dried out. I thought it wasn't a problem so I replaced the ink (mind you the ink isn't cheap either. It's $5.29 for 2 cartridges excluding shipping). The pen still would not work. A bit disappointed that the pen broke so easily from just a minor mishap. And note to all people. No matter how good tools you have to draw, you need to know how to draw to have some great looking drawings. If you are an aspiring manga artist, I think a traditional G Pen with an ink bottle will be more of a learning experience. This pen is just cleaner.

5-star
My package came about 5 minutes ago, earlier than expected arrival according to Amazon. I'm very satisfied! It's a great pen for manga. Almost has the same exact quality as a regular dip G-pen, but does just as fine with line variations. Just keep good maintenance of this pen to have consistent ink flow. Otherwise, GREAT product!!

Amazing gift for any artist
We gave this to a budding artist. She loves the quality and the fact the pens work well with small details. We will buy more as needed.

Great
Love it but wish it spit more ink. The lines it draws are too fine.
