Great quality hive.
If you've purchased beekeeping equipment on Amazon before, you're probably a bit gun-shy, especially if it looks like a good deal. I can confirm without a shadow of doubt, this is the real deal. I own hives manufactured by Dadant, Mann Lake, Brushy Mountain and Kelley. This hive is absolutely on point with these brands. I also build a lot of my own equipment, but I'm particular about quality. The hive bodies contain a few knots, but nothing that is going to affect the structure or allow anything to get in or out. The box joints fit snugly together without any "unnecessary persuasion" to mesh them together. No sign of warped boards. Once assembled, the top and bottom edges of the hive bodies are flush on all sides so you don't have to worry about robbers getting in. The only difference from the massed produced hive bodies is that these are not pre-drilled for nails at the corners. This isn't a big deal for me because I use 2" staples to assemble my hive bodies.Inner cover, telescoping cover and bottom board are assembled with screws instead of staples or brads. They are rock solid. Inner cover is actual plywood and not particle board or masonite. Metal on the telescoping cover is either painted or powder coated. It appears to be quite durable and heavy gauge, not like the cheezy light-gauge flashing you see on a lot of cheaper covers out there.Frames are groove top/groove bottom instead of the wedge top/split bottom I'm used to using, so if you use wired foundation with hooks, you'll have to trim the hooks off. They work perfectly for plastic foundation. Not a biggie, but be prepared if you're used to wedge style frames.Overall, I'd highly recommend this to anyone from the beginner to the experienced beekeeper.

Good bang for the buck
I just received this beehive and unpacked it from the large box. I haven't put it together yet but I have inspected pieces. Everything looks great. as stated in the description you will need to assemble this yourself and there are no instructions on how to do this. There is also no hardware nor predrilled holes. You get wood pieces and an assembled roof . The assembly looks pretty self explanatory and they leave the hardware option up to the buyer. Overall I'm impressed with the purchase. I will update once the hive is assembled and painted. Quality product so far and super cheap and fast shipping.

Very nice hive.
Good bee hive - the box came with the requisite two deep and three medium boxes with a large number of parts to construct the frames. The kit included 24 deep frames and 26 medium frames so, 4 frames too many for the deep boxes and 4 too few for the medium boxes. No matter. I will purchase separately what I need for the medium box and use the 4 extras for future needs. It would be nice to have a packing list because a new beekeeper may not know what the parts are or where they go. There were two instruction sheets for putting together the frames (very useful!) but nothing describing the hive in general. What's missing: foundation sheets, queen excluder and entrance reducer.

Nice boxes but not the best communication
First off, the boxes are excellent. They are well made, fit together nicely, and of excellent quality, The reason for 3 stars is the trouble I had getting them. I received an e-mail from Amazon saying my order was canceled. A few hours later an email stating they had been shipped. 2 weeks later I called LLA and they said their cutting machine was broke and they would ship the next day. A week later, still no boxes. Finally they came in unexpectedly. It would have been really nice to have some damage control with an email stating the issues and they would be later than expected. The weather has cooled off and slowed the bees down so I had plenty of time to get them ready.

Great Buy...!
Bought two of these and putting them together is a tedious but fulfilling task. All in all assembly was what I'd exspect from assembling 10 boxes.Maybe mine got wet during transport or the wood was left outside during a storm or something but I did have some black mold on a few frame sections. Other than that some of the cuts were ruff but workable. I used glue and an air gun with 1" brad nails to finish the job. I didn't think I could find screws small enough for the frames. I'm a novice at woodwork but this was fairly straight forward.Definitely recommend at the price I bought it at.

Good quality kit, easy to assemble
I like the quality of this beehive kit. The pieces fit together tightly and well, no modifications needed to get them to fit together. Some of the surfaces / edges are a bit rough but that does not affect the usability at all. Note that the frames and boxes are not assembled. Youtube has some great videos on how to quickly put together the frames. To complete the boxes and frames you will need your own nails and glue, plus your favorite foundation for the frames.

Not the best construction
The shipment was very late and caused a lot of confusion on where it was located. The materials of construction are good but the saw cuts are poor. I had to trim some of the boards because they were cut wrong and the joints are not smooth. I would not buy another beehive from this company. I guess you get what you pay for.

Overall a good value compared to others on Amazon.
The order was late. The hive assembled easily, some edges could be cleaner, roof metal had a wrinkle, but over all a good value for what you get. All pieces were there. Only 4 stars for late delivery, some rough cut edges , the wrinkle in the metal roof and bottom board is corrugated plastic or wax type paper.
