The answer is Yes to both. In Landscape orientation you fold over the front cover & lock it into the tabs/slots on the back of the cover. In that mode You can choose a variety of “lean-back” angles. In Portrait orientation you go through the same steps the just rotate the iPad 90 degrees (on edge). It will stand absolutely vertical in that mode. The only way to get it to “lean back” any in Portrait mode is to leave the front cover loose (not locked into the slots). You’ll see the corners of the front cover has been “clipped.” By tilting the iPad back with the cover extended behind you can tilt it back about 15-30 degrees. It is less stable in this mode & is very marginal on a very smooth surface, but “better than nuthin’!” **Q: Will the pencil be able to wireless charge with the case on ?** A: The pencil charges in the slot that aligns with magnetic side of the iPad - plus there’s an elasticized slot on the back as an option if you’re worried about it falling off (never had that problem) **Q: How does it wirelessly charge your Apple Pencil? I was not expecting the quality that was delivered. The mini more than snuggly fits into the case. It fits tightly! Once in, it is not going anywhere. The case is extremely strong, as is the magnet. I have no issues in putting this on the fridge door, or anything similar. I am not a colour person, so I chose the black case, which I cannot complain about. Love the holder for the pen. Like the mini, the pen fits tightly so there is no worry of it falling out. Some reviews have said it is over priced. IMO you get what you pay for. This is a top quality case and you pay for quality.
