Six and a Half Year Review
Yes, six and a half years ago I purchased this fan here on Amazon. I never considered posting a review of it before because, well--it's a fan. It spins around and blows air, as fans do. Then the other night, as I was researching some other electronic appliances for purchase and trying to figure out how well they hold up over time, it dawned on me that this Lasko product deserved a positive review that would hopefully alleviate concerns that others might have on buying such an item sight unseen. The fan was purchased to move the air around in a stuffy upstairs bedroom, while also providing white noise for sleeping. It excels in both respects, although I'd caution that one man's "white noise" is another man's "annoyance"--the unit is hardly silent, and if you plan on using the highest (of three) fan settings you're going to notice the noise. Even on the lowest speed I can see how it could disturb those who prefer dead silence as their background noise. For me this is a positive feature (I struggle to sleep without that steady drone), but if you value silence above all else this is ~not~ the right product for you. Set-up was easy and self-explanatory; I can say this with certainty even after all these years because it does require breaking back down for periodic cleaning. The unit is fairly bulky, particularly regarding the base plate which does a great job of stabilizing the fan even on high speed, but does so at the cost of taking up a sizeable amount of floor space. Fortunately, the included remote control (which has worked flawlessly since purchase with, to the best of my recollection, only two battery changes) means that the fan can be tucked into a corner without concern over being able to reach the controls, with the notable caveat that you cannot remotely change between oscillating and stationary. What I want to stress most of all, though, is that this fan has had ~zero~ mechanical issues over the six and a half years I've owned it. And we're not talking occasional use here, either--between keeping the airflow moving during the day and providing white noise at night, it has been running ~far~ more often than not over these years. During the summer the fan is generally left running (on high) for literally 5-6 MONTHS at a time--not "every night for months", but literally 24 hours a day, every day, for 5-6 months!! I'll be the first to admit that the construction ~feels~ flimsy when you first unpack and assemble it, but the results don't lie: this fan has been unbelievably durable. And not just mechanically, either--even after at least a dozen dis-assemblies for cleaning, the plastic clips which hold the plastic casing in place have held up beautifully as well (I distinctly remember thinking during the first assembly that there was no way those things would last--I was very wrong!). I cannot comment on how well the timer function works as I obviously haven't used it, and as alluded to the blades will pick up a good amount of gunk over time which requires regular wipe-downs (as any bladed fan will). Overall, though, if you're not scared off by the size of the unit and don't mind the steady droning of a fan while sleeping or going about your day, I cannot recommend this product more highly. If it ever ~does~ break down, I will gladly purchase another to replace it!

DON’T LISTEN TO BAD REVIEWS. THIS IS A GOOD FAN.
I was hesitant to order it because people had bad reviews on it but I took a chance. At first I thought I had made a mistake because the remote control wasn’t working well, but come to find out my husband hadn’t put in fresh batteries. Once he changed them to new batteries, it worked great. I’m used to having the hum of a fan to fall asleep and this one is perfect. It’s not too noisy though it’s just right. It works really smoothly and has 3 speeds. All the speeds work well. The air flow on the highest speed is surprisingly strong. Not like a “vornado” but good enough without the “vornado” price. I needed a fan that wasn’t too tall as I like to have the fan air hit my face while lying in bed and this one is perfect. The lowest height it adjusts to hits at just the right height as my pillow on my bedside. I recently had surgery and couldn’t be getting out of bed to be turning a fan on and off, so the remote control functionality of this fan is very practical. I’m very happy with it and glad I got it.

3 Fans, 3 Month Review,
We ordered 3 of these. Let me start by saying I don't regret it and would order them again. This is a solid fan at a very good price. The assembly could have been easier. Personally, I had no trouble with it. But, what other reviewers say is true about the instructions being awful. My biggest problem with assembly was attaching the front grill to the fans, but that was very minor. It's just tricky lining up the tabs. The lights on it are especially bright at night. I ended up using a few layers of masking tape to dim them because my wife wasn't happy about it. (between us, I didn't care, not a big deal to me). The fan does what a fan is supposed to do and puts out plenty of air. The remote (the reason we got it) is just "LOL" as another reviewer put it. The remote has to be pointing STRAIGHT at the panel, with the panel FACING the remote. And the range is about 2 feet to be reliable. I mean, that's fine for a bed side fan that doesn't move but, eh ... You get what you pay for. It suits my needs. You just need to keep that in mind when positioning it. The fan is, as mentioned in other reviews, very light. That's great for moving it around. Also, keep in mind that weight isn't exactly something you need in a fan since most folks don't move tower fans around a lot or put them in places they can be knocked over. It doesn't mean that this isn't a quality fan. Just mobile. We have 1 fan in a spot that our 100lb dog crashes into a lot (he's dumb, but it's by his pet bed) and it hasn't fallen over yet. Now, my big complaint. This is important for people that sleep with the fan on all night. This is not mentioned in other reviews, either. And I KNOW it's not isolated because I have 3 of these fans (identical, same order) and they all do it. When the oscillating feature is used, there will be a grinding plastic sound every few seconds. What is annoying is that it's not consistent. We run these fans all night while we sleep, and sometimes it starts right away, sometimes it starts after 3 hours, sometimes it behaves and stays quiet. This has been happening since we first got them. No one night is like the one before. You have to be woken up and turn it off when it starts. Due to it being random, I have yet to be able to find exactly what's grinding in there so I can break it down and grease it or something. Irritating. I give it 4 stars overall, considering the price. Would have been five if it didn't randomly start squeaking while oscillating.

Ten years and still moving air
I've had this fan for ten years and it's still chugging along. I figured that at this price point I might not be getting something that would last forever, but this champ of a fan is doing just fine. I use it every night for 8+ hours as white noise and air circulation and it does the job swimmingly. It's not super silent but I don't want a silent one anyway. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and would definitely get this again.

Oh no! This Lasko Fan Found Lacking.
Lasko will continue to be my go-to, just not this model. It rattles and clatters due, I believe, to being made almost entirely of some sort of polymer The grill is usually metal - now plastic. The blade is customarily rigid/strong - this one floppy/bendable. It runs well and the dependable Lasko motor is quiet, but the racket is awful. Read those product descriptions and reviews!

Well engineered to a price point
See revision at bottom. I am using this to move dehumidified air from the basement to the main floor. I have a commercial fan that sits on the floor, but it is very noisy and gets in the way. This Lasko is basically a cheap box fan on a pole--it sounds exactly like a box fan, and blows like a box fan. I have heard box fans that were quieter on Low, although there are no rattles or squeeks. The Lasco on low is not especially powerful, even though low seems noisy. High will blow you away. You'll probably use it on low and medium and live with the noise. Construction: Extremely thin plastic, except for the pole. I mean really thin, everywhere. Every dime has been engineered out. That seems more common today. The base is a single layer of very thin plastic, although it is of a good diameter, so it might fall over if bumped. It is hard to move, since there are no fasteners between the motor, the pole, and the stand. The pieces have to be held together when you pick it up. The good news is that putting it together requires no tools and could not be simpler. However, it will be a pain to disassemble and clean the shrouds and blades. Black would be a better color. The motor appears to be a cheap box fan motor, perhaps the same as the 16" fan, although it performs OK. It looks like a desk fan with extra large blades, popped on a pole. My guess is it will work hard a couple of years before the motor dies. The remote works better for me than it has for some others in the reviews. I can point it down the steps and have good control. Performance: 5 stars Noise: 2 stars Apparent quality of construction: 1 star. Afraid it will crack, split or break. Value: I would prefer either paying $10 less, or $25 - $40 more and getting more durability (I paid nearly $50). I could not identify another model that meets that need. It seems crazy to pay $100 more, though, for the same performance and questionable quality. Seems likely to fall if bumped, and likely to break, if you have kids or a medium sized dog. However, the thing about high quality plastic is that it is not cheap and can perform better than metal. However, to consumers' eyes it will look just like the cheap plastic. Don't know what kind we have here. Controls: Head pivots OK, seems for some reason to stay in position without a manual lock. Controls are fine. Remote is good. Pole height is more than adequate. Range of adjustment is very good. Can you say "disposable fan"? I guess $25 a year is an acceptable cost for what you get. I'll either get another, if I get two years out of it, or I'll spend more next time. -------- ---------- 2 month update The fan is just starting to get noisy bearings at this point. My experience is that Chinese sleeve bearings do not last very long, compared to vintage American sleeve bearings, or to ball bearings. Although I probably have 500 hours on this fan at this point, this seems to be unacceptably poor. Unfortunately, I have not experienced any Asian motor with sleeve bearings to be durable. Also unfortunately, fans with better bearings (needle, ball, etc.) are nearly non-existant, except in some commercial duty motors. Ad copy for such products will make a point of this kind of construction if it is used. There are 2 main options, since the 30 day warranty is past, and the motor has not actually failed yet-- 1. Run it into the ground by doing nothing (estimated life at failure point is about 1 year old) or 2. Disassemble the motor every few months and apply synthetic oil, which will quiet the fan for 1 - 3 months or so, and extend its life. Since this does not change the quality rating of this fan relative to the other reasonably priced fans available, the star rating does not change, but I now estimate its life at about 1 -2 years max., depending on usage. ***If anyone has experience with a higher quality recently made fan, I would appreciate their feedback.*** Note- The present models from some manufacturers with a quality reputation are not as robust as the models sold more than 5 years ago. I have lately seen some "commercial" motors with cheap bearing design. In addition, the noise from the fan blades is becoming bothersome, considering the modest air flow.

Es un buen ventilador
Es un buen ventilador, pero es un poco chico y por lo mismo, no genera tanto aire. Está bien para un área pequeña o bien, tenerlo cerca. Los materiales están bien al igual que su control remoto.
