Great Umbrella - Looks nice too!
It's extroardinary in the wind, does a great job of keeping the rain off my husband (and one other person), and dries extremely quick (seriously). Wood handle is very nicely fashioned, easy to hold, and just the right size to hang on the office coat hanger. Release mechanism is not automatic, but easy enough to use and doesn't leave you searching in the rain. Canopy is held down (when closed) with 2 velcro straps that are plenty long and do a great job of holding in one place. it's also a nice fashion accessory as there are no huge labels on the umbrella and it looks very business-like. My husband uses this walking into a large office building in the middle of an open field in the midwest - so there is lots of wind and it has not yet flipped inside-out. Will be buying another one - terrific.

Broke after 2 Years
23 month review: October 18, 2014 - Reduced from 5, to 4 (after 18 months), to to 2 stars (after 2 years). I purchased my GustBuster Doorman on Nov 9, 2012. It performed really well in rainy, windy Boston, and I HAD a mostly-good review of it. But a couple nights ago, after 23 months of ownership, the GustBuster finally gave up and broke on me. While spinning it to dry it off, as I've done with every umbrella I've ever owned, the fiberglass shaft of the GustBuster completely shattered, splitting all the way up, and rendering the umbrella useless (it won't hold upright anymore). I'm reducing my rating to 2 stars. I think the umbrella performs admirably, but for $50, shouldn't break after 2 years of ownership. That's a lifespan I'd expect from a $10 umbrella. Unfortunately, the fiberglass shaft just isn't strong enough to support the HUGE canopy, which has a huge moment of inertia due to its enormous diameter and weightiness. Again, if you're really considering this umbrella, I'm sure you'll be happy with it at first, but like me, you'll probably be disappointed when you find out that it is NOT the long-term purchase you expected it to be. Besides the ultimate failure of the shaft, the umbrella had really shown signs of wear over the 2 years I owned it (detailed in my previous review). It was still very strong, but didn't present nearly as well as it had when I first got it. New summary: would NOT buy again. ===================================================================================== 18 month review: The GOOD: 1. It's HUGE - you can fit 2 to 3 people under this thing easily. 2. It's STRONG - I've had 30-50 mph gusts hit me with this thing open. Strong enough to push me back (I'm a huge, 220 lb guy), but didn't break my GB. 3. It's CLASSY - the style of this umbrella will complement you well in a 3-piece suit. It has a very elegant look. (Caveat, see "CHEAP" below) 4. It's BUILT TO LAST - after 18 months, the ribs and sheets of my umbrella are like new, despite being subjected to heavy winds on regular occasion. The BAD: 1, It's HUGE - even folded up, it's almost 40" long. Not easy to carry / store. But if you like the look of carrying a fancy umbrella with a wood handle, then it will suit you fine. 2. It's CHEAP - the umbrella is entirely detailed with plastics. The handle is a cheap faux wood that will get chipped and scratched easily, and will never look as good as real wood (my friend has a real wood handled umbrella from London that puts the look of this to shame up close, though the GustBuster handle looks good enough from 10 feet away). Also, the tip of my umbrella broke off while I was walking with it shut like a walking stick (tapping the end on the ground). If it were made of steel instead of cheap plastic, this wouldn't have happened. SUMMARY: All in all, I really like this umbrella. It's not a hand-made masterpiece with fine details, but it mostly looks the part, and it REALLY works well in wind (as advertised), and gets the job done! Great umbrella for the money. I would buy it again, even knowing its flaws.

strong construction, but cheap material
I bought 2 gustbusters, since I knew that it's life time warrenty, and wind proof, wow... that's my dream on that gusty rainy days. I must too you, that it is strong, big, nice. But, I have used it less then 15 times, suddenly in one rainy morning, I went down the 6 floors, and went outside, I opened the umbrella, I had only one half side covered with fabric, about 2 ends got torn, both the fabric and the rubber together, I felt ashamed with myself carrying that expensive umbrella in that shape, but I was still happy knowing that I'll get other ones since this has a life time warrenty. I called gustbusters c.s., I was shocked when the customer service agent told me that ''only the construction is covered, but the material is not covered under the warranty,'' So my dear freinds, just buy cheep brand, that is not causing pain when it gets broken.

Classic looks great coverage
Great umbrella, classic looks, wide coverage, perfect for car. Too wide for city streets.

Great Umbrella ... but delivered damaged.
You can tell that this umbrella is solid. It has some serious weight and heft to it and the handle is the most solid I have seen on an umbrella. If you've never had a large umbrella this may seem gigantic to you - but if you are looking for an umbrella that can cover you and someone else without any worry, then this is your thing. I write this review today, 5/20/2014, because one I just received the order and have to report that it was damaged on delivery. I will take one more chance, and submitted a replacement request.

It is perfect for when you are walking in the rain with ...
It is enormous. It is perfect for when you are walking in the rain with kids, but it is too heavy and too long to carry around all day. The brand is great, so get yourself a smaller version for everyday use.

I almost died but my GustBuster survived!
I currently own a 48" and a 62" Gust buster and the other week a massive storm rolled through my friends home in Mohnton, PA outside Reading. Wind gust easily exceeded 50mph with torrential down pours. The trees were going sideways slamming on to the ground and one tree was uprooted and took out the utilities in the area. My issue was he lived on a main road and his trash and recycling cans and glass were in the road at this point. Even the hot tub cover was about to escape the county with these winds. Me watching the storm with my friend for fun decides its a good idea to remove the trashcan hazard in the road. So i pull out the GustBuster 62". Not my smartest of moments but half way there it got intense and folded the canopy in half. As this happened like 20 feet away is when that tree came crashing down onto the power lines throwing a huge flash of sparks. Nope trash cans can wait, so I ran inside. Took me like 2 min but I was able to flip back the undamaged folded umbrella. Not a scratch on it despite it looking completely mangled. You cant beat the price and reliability of this umbrella. I keep this umbrella in the car for when I'm in Philadelphia with the girlfriend during rain. it fits two people comfortably. I had the 68" not realizing it was more of a second home and excessively tall at this point my old 48" I gave to mother witch is fine for just her and durable. I hope to pick up a GustBuster Metro that's a bit more compact for traveling solo that can fit in my backpack or over my shoulder on the train. All that said I highly recommend products from GustBuster, and yes there are worthy competitors however none of these would have stood up to this test.

Great umbrella at first; deceptive warranty
Very sturdy, big enough to cover me and my wife, withstands really bad weather, and it looks classy. I live out west--this thing might be hard to negotiate if you live in, say, New York City with crowded sidewalks. The only con for my family is that my petite wife has a hard time opening it. UPDATE: 9/9/14 Last month this umbrella broke. The little metal piece on the rod that holds it in the open position doesn't come out anymore. It has a lifetime guarantee, but they want me to ship the umbrella to them, wait a few weeks, and also pay $10 for return shipping. Very inconvenient. I just bought another umbrella instead (different kind). Probably won't buy another GustBuster.

Golf Mr Bond?
Great umbrella, basically it's a USA golf brolly with an English style curved wooden handle on the end. Canopy is obviously vast, the vents do what they should do, in the wind even with the tear drop membrane the umbrella will pull a bit but it is very well built and offers great cover. It's Jordan Spieth meets James Bond but without the birdie and the cat.

Big, wind proof, strong.
Best brolly ever! However, if you’re under 5’8”, it’s prob gonna be a bit too long for you when you’re carrying it. Still love it tho.

Not for kids
Great strong umbrella but heavy on your wrist after a while.

Looks and feels cheap for the price
For the price this umbrella is not that good. It’s done the job so far but the handle even started chipping after one use to reveal fibreglass underneath. So it’s not even real wood. It also gets very uncomfortable to hold. I needed another umbrella for my 2nd car so I recently purchased one from a rival company (Fulton) for slightly less than this one and it’s so much better in every way! It makes this one look even cheaper next to it. The Fulton also withstands even greater wind speeds. Overall I wish I never purchased this one and in the future will be buying another Fulton.
