Will this fit a 1972 v12 jaguar xke?

Yes however, it is not the recommended temp. This one is 160 O.E. is 180.

Does this thermostat fail to the open position ?

The MotoRad 2000-160 high flow thermostat does not include the Fail Safe feature of some of our other thermostats. In the unlikely event of a failure it could fail in either the open or closed position. Thanks for the inquiry.
